It’s horrible, just horrible that Democrats might send people to Trump rallies with tee shirts that might “provoke” violence (because, yeah, hardly a human exists anywhere who can keep from punching someone wearing a slogan they disagree with). But Trump supporters with guns hanging around a democratic campaign office, not a problem.

I get what you’re saying, but did this really feed the narrative? He said that the DNC sent some progressive protesters to Trump rallies to rile up the rubes. Who considers that controversial? Would anybody be shocked or scandalized if somebody from the Trump camp admitted that they were trying to provoke Democratic supporters at political rallies?
What does confirm a narrative, though, is f***ing stepping down as if you did something horribly wrong. JFC, do Democrats never learn? Giving O’Keefe and his creatures another scalp is exactly the wrong move.
Before the resignation it was yet another stupid edited video from a criminal right-wing troll. Now it’s a story, because stepping down is as good as admitting guilt. How have professional pols not figured this out yet?

However in doing so, he would have to explain why those ‘fundies’ committed assault in the first place.

This is much to do about nothing.
If Trump supporters can not resist their urge for violence when they see or hear from someone who they do not agree with I am not sure it is anything but the Trump supporter’s character flaw that is the driving force.
Additionally O’Keeffe has a proven record of falsifying videos to result in criminally falsification of the message on the video. The only thing that is news here is that this criminal enterprise has struck again with Republican support for this criminal activity.

As far as I’m concerned, yes, step down and step away. If you are stupid enough after the last 8 years to fall for this convicted criminal’s tired and cheesy bait, then you shouldn’t be part of ANY political structure anywhere.
