Discussion: Dem. Intel Committee Member: Nunes' Actions Are What A Cover-Up Looks Like (VIDEO)

Not original. John Dean already said that. And John Dean is someone who knows what a cover-up looks like from the inside.

What he said may not be original, but it is spot on. We are witnessing a major cover-up. Nunes is a key figure, it would appear.

Edit: with apologies to
the_loan_arranger Two great minds post the same thing - he beat me out of the gate

Ya Think?
Pretty Much - Did you catch John Dean on Chris Hayes the other week

Priceless: From the mouth of an expert to your ear

DEAN: “Ive been inside a cover-up. I know how they look and feel. And every signal they are sending is were covering this up. Experienced investigators know this. They know how people react when they`re being pursued.”
HAYES: I want to stop you there, because that to me was sort of a striking
moment. I mean, the Paul Manafort/General Flynn moment today in the press briefing in which Sean Spicer basically tries to essentially say they barely had anything to do with the campaign when we all watched it unfold and Manafort was the campaign manager.
HAYES:
Did that strike you as odd as well?
DEAN: It absolutely did. Let me tell you how predictable this is and how
coverupish it is, because this is exactly what happened during Watergate.

For example, when it came clear – when I had broken rank and became a public person out there, suddenly Nixon had never had any meetings with me at all. Then he had one or two meetings with me. Well, we had 37 meetings about Watergate.
And so – and he knew damn well that we had been deep in the thick of it.

There is a big piece of the Nunes saga that just doesn’t fit this narrative, however.

Which is, if you were the WH,and you wanted to leak something that makes you look good…then leak something that makes you look good. With actual documents that will be shared with the press.

What Nunes revealed is…a claim that Trumpers were caught up in LEGAL surveillance. And zero evidence to back up even that claim, except his word…which he has proceeded to discredit every day since.

I get that the Trumpers aren’t the sharpest tacks in the box, but…how would this idea even appeal to them??

If I didn’t know better–and I don’t really have a definitive clue–I’d say this is another “squirrel!” Which leads me to wonder what in fuck they’re really attempting to hide.

Discrediting the work of the intelligence committee seems like a worthy goal from the Trump perspective. Fake news. Fake judges. Fake committee. Everything is fake.

I think it was intended to be a squirrel…or to bolster the Trump claim of being wiretapped squirrel…that has gone seriously awry. Nunes turned out to be far more erratic than anyone imagined.

Even the fake coal jobs … and the fake good-paying, union-protected auto worker jobs the Midwest is being flooded with as we speak.

I swear to FSM, if it weren’t for the incompetence of all the players, we might never know half of what is going on. Incompetence … and Twitter.

Has Nunes even yet told his committee what the “bombshell” information is? I doubt it.

From the beginning Nunez was an obvious lightweight. He’s in over his head.

What we are witnessing is attempted criminal conspiracy being bungled by inept idiots and being fueled by the sick ego of a man with narcissistic personality disorder and impending dementia. This is not 3d chess, it is not even checkers. It is 6 year olds trying to figure out how to cover up the fact that half of the cookies have disappeared while they were the only people in the room.

All part of “getting to the bottom of things”.

My gut reaction is, Trump’s go-to move is always deny, deflect, distract - but what worked wonders with gossip columnists at the NYPost and the Enquirer is backfiring on him, bigly. It is dawning on him that he his in way over his head, and now he is flailing about wildly.

I wonder if trumps miscalculation was not realizing congress is full of narcissistic petty dictators like himself.

Not to worry. If I’d taken the time to come up with the link, you would have been first. I applaud your thoroughness.

Maybe even Nunes wasn’t willing to go along with an openly fake scenario. He’s stupid, but he may not be that stupid.

And can we all not forget that he briefed Ryan about this charade before he ran over to “brief the president” on the purportedly urgent matter?

No. He hasn’t even shared it with republicans on the Committee to my knowledge, and certainly no Democrats.

Probably because he has zero evidence. There is no document in his possession…at best he was shown a document, and more likely he was just told some stuff.

If ANY of this actually happened. So far, I still haven’t seen any evidence like a security log from the WH to even verify he showed up…its all just purely his word. I haven’t even seen any reporting that they have verified he jumped out of an Uber and into another one to the White House. The reporting on all of this has been incredibly sloppy.

See? I don’t hafta join twitter or facebook. The crap is everywhere.

I watched with rapt attention the days of Watergate. I can say that back then people behaved with considerably more intelligence and subtlety. These days they compete to show in public…on the White House lawn how they can step on their own dick. Entertaining… but not in a good way.
