The upshot is there is no DACA deal to be had because Kelly doesn’t want them here. Trump is a buffoon with no informed opinion and no knowledge. He’s just the middleman. Dems ought to get to Trump by attacking Kelly hard for presuming to be President. That just might work with this insecure egomaniac, especially after Kelly’s recent remarks on Trump’s “evolving” on the issue.

Democrats are not asking Republicans to cave. Democrats are asking them to accept the Democratic offer that Republicans demanded: border wall funding, immigration reform, CHIP funding, DACA protection. In other words, Democrats have basically caved already. It’s just that Republicans refuse to make a deal because they won’t accept their own terms of settlement.

What am I missing? Isn’t this also about CHIP funding? Have Republicans seized the narrative ? More people in this country care about children’s healthcare than DACA. Did Republicans end run the Democrats?

McConnell could have put CHIP on the floor any day in the last 100+ days and it would have passed overwhelmingly. He deliberately held those 9 million kids hostage to use them as leverage at this moment. He is a cold blooded villain. President Kelly is running the show.
