Discussion: Dem Elections Supervisor Under Fire As America’s ‘Trumpiest’ County Shifts Bluer

When Democrats win it’s fraud.
Got It?
Wash, rinse, repeat 2020
Expect this when Trump looses as he inevitably will

To the GOP, voter fraud only occurs when Democrats win. They squeal like stuck pigs, throw around specious allegations of voter fraud, and seek to impose measures to make voting more difficult by Democrats. It’s the same old formula, and they use it repeatedly.

Expect more efforts in GOP run swing states to impose voter suppression efforts. They will be blatant, since they know “justices” Roberts, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, Thomas, and Alito are shameless Republican hacks (and in the case of Kavanaugh and Roberts, former GOP political operatives who support voter suppression).

2020 will be very messy, since the Republicans know they are a declining minority cadre. They won’t give up power easily.

  1. To paraphrase certain flamboyant fraud-loving real estate developers’ cliche about “Location” “Turnout, Turnout, Turnout.”

  2. Arizona Republicans underestimate the eventual negative effect of subjecting the voter pool to the nasty, ass-holic likes of Joe Arpaio and Jan Brewer for 30 years.

Republicans worried about “disenfranchised voters”. That’s rich.

Let’s not dismiss the possibility that Maricopa was not the “Trumpiest” county. Perhaps there was interference with an election, but it was previous elections, not this one.
OK, so I don’t have any evidence of that, but that doesn’t seem to be a requirement in this area of inquiry.

Republicans lose in a once very red area.

Solution: We need to cheat better.

Isn’t it easy enough to know the percentage of registered Dems and registered Reps in Maricopa County, and the percentage of each party that voted? It seems that would closely track the actual vote there. Am I oversimplifying this?

When someone always assumes that others are cheating is a safe bet the first one has been cheating for quite some time.

That was my thought also, reading this. If there was a change in how the election was run, now that a Democrat is in charge of it, isn’t it equally as likely that the elections were being unfairly run before, and are being fairly run now? And that’s assuming all other factors are equal, which, looking around at the rest of the country for comparison, they’re obviously not.

I live and vote in maricopa county and these people are just whiners. It is purely political theater. As far as the maricopa county board of supervisors is concerned, I wouldn’t trust them to oversee a backyard barbecue, let alone an election.

Reduce the number of polling places from 200 to 60. One hundred thousand turned away in 2016. That sounds like a Republican dream. Polling places open in 2018, giant turnout. Nobody turned away. Massive Democratic win. I get it. Republicans are right, having a Democrat in charge of the election process is bad for Republican business.

Can you say sore losers? With these people any trickle of a loss of power means an automatic trip to the Supreme Court—where Bret and Squi and Clare-Bare all await.

So there has been problems but they were not ‘addressed’ until a Democrat was in office. Got it. They MUST ‘curb’ his powers. This sounds strangely like Wisconsin and North Carolina…oh yeah and now Michigan. Those Republicans are just such CHAMPIONS of reform, aren’t they?

I don’t have a poll on this, but I certainly got a strong sense from things I read leading up to the 2018 election that quite a few R voters in Arizona were planning to vote a straight D ticket. Highly unscientific perspective, but there it is.

From his response, I think the GOP might end up regretting having picked yet another fight with an ex-Marine.

The article sa there were long lines across AZ on election day with folks wanting to vote. We use paper ballots, not touch screen machines. And 3/4ths of voters mail in their ballots. Where I voted there were no lines at all because my precinct is well run with enough booths to vote in and competent people running the operation. There was no fraud here. But then I live in Tucson which is in Pima county south of that GOPer hotbed in Maricopa.
