Discussion: Dem Burke Hits Walker On Supporter's Swastika Posts And Slaeze Politics

Discussion for article #229582

The article makes it sound as if Burke’s ad is over the top, but it didn’t seem over the top to me. It makes the point that Ellerman’s a whacko without lingering on the swastikas he posted and moves on to a definitive point about Walker’s sleaze (six convictions).

I hope it’s effective, but who knows whether any message works at this point in the campaign. All about turnout.

The ad also said that Ellerman was fired “by Trek for incompetence.”

Is this supposed to say that Burke was fired for incompetence? Or did Ellerman work for Trek, Burke’s family company? With TPM’s history of bad editing, I have no idea. But evidently nobody can be fired for incompetence there because there is no copy editing done.

It’s a good, factual ad—the polar opposite of the crap Walker has done.

Well, don’t want anyone fired, but you’re right, that’s a mess.

I thought it was a good ad, but who knows? It does make a rather pointed case for how Walker has been up to no good as Governor, and will continue to do so if he gets re-elected. The only thing that drives me nuts about any negative ads, is the ominous music. The facts should speak for themselves. Association with scary music is just so cliche’ now. Not sure that works anymore on a psychological level. Personally, I’ve become immune to it over the years with every election.

Oh poor little thin skinned Walker the Koch puppet. That is a good, hard hitting Ad, and no matter how much Scotty wishes the truth could be kept hidden, about him being under investigation for slimy campaign violations, and the fact that 6 of his cronies have been convicted, it is not a secret, but is fair game. Do you need a whaaaambulance Scotty?

The ad itself did say that Ellerman was fired by Trek for incompetence.

There’s sleaze politics everywhere. And ad I got in the mail yesterday accuses my local Congressman Ron Barber (AZ dist 2 democrat) of owning a vacation home in Rocky Point, Mexico. It shows him in a crudely pasted on Hawaiian shirt with a drink in hand and suggests he is ignoring his constituents. Paid for by a republican PAC. I called up the office of Barber’s opponent and told them that the ad convinced me to vote for Barber because of the underhanded style of the republicans…

Looks like Lowe’s and Home Depot will be replacing a lot of kitchen sinks next Wednesday. Soon we will be finding out what Mary Burke’s role was in BENGHAZZI!!!

Ellerman was once employed by Trek. according to the stories I’ve read elsewhere.

Can someone please hit Walker hard enough to knock his eyes straight. I can’t stand the jerk but having him look sideways while I’m despising him really chaps my hide.

If Wisconsin votes for Walker again, all I can say is they well-deserve him and good luck to them, they’ll need it.

Ellerman was Trek’s HR director for a while, and he was fired for incompetence.

I would wager that Burke’s internal polling shows she is losing so they released a desperate ad. Its the same thing Rick Scott is doing in Florida with his attacks on Crist. If you are ahead or tied at the end you give voters a positive reason to vote for you. If you are down you go negative in desperation.

Unfortunately, THIS story did not mention that fact, while outlining Ellerman’s other jobs. A critical omission adding to the confusion; was there a rush to get this into print?

If I was Mary I’d consider moving myself and my business to another state if sleezeball gets re-elected. That’s what a lot of other folks like myself are considering…

Yep, when you play the Hitler card (Godwin’s Law), you are definitely losing.

Meanwhile the complicit media never question Walker’s ads claiming that Mary Burke lost 130,000 jobs and Scott Walker gained back 100,000 jobs. Unless Burke is single-handedly responsible for the 2008 recession and Walker is somehow single-handedly responsible for the recovery since, those ads are outright lies. “There are lies, damned lies and then there are statistics”

Absolutely. Calling it the “Swastikas Ad” is disingenuous to start with.

The swastikas were Ellerman’s, the incompetent, fired former Trek exec making the wild last-minute accusations. Burke’s campaign is just pointing out what a nut he is.

TPM has serious HuffPo issues…
