I don’t think this is too tenuous a parsing but as I read it Trump is saying the family separation policy will end if Democrats accede to what Republicans want in the immigration bill. In other words, until their demands are met Trump, Sessions, et al. will continue to hold children hostage. Insofar as the well-being of these children is being sacrificed so Trump can ‘win’ on immigration, the children are, in effect, pawns.
Madam Secretary, does DHS recommend the use of cattle prods when a mother resists having her child torn from her grasp, or does the department favor tasers?
