Discussion: Deborah Ramirez Spoke To FBI For 'Over Two Hours,' Concerned FBI Won't Follow Through

There “they” go again, moving the goalposts. Talking to one witness should be enough. We can’t keep torturing privileged white men like this.

This was apparent as soon as Jeff Flake stumbled through his initial speech on Friday asking for an investigation. Everybody knew the WH is the puppet master of this sham and Jeff appeared scared of his own shadow (or more likely the shadows of the women in the halls) making it highly unlikely that he would really put his foot down and ask for the investigation this process deserves.

“Deborah Ramirez, a college classmate of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who has accused him of shoving his genitals in her face during a party, spoke to FBI investigators about the incident for ‘over two hours’ on Saturday…”

“Well, I don’t know Sen. Klobuchar, but what about YOU – how many times have YOU shoved YOUR genitals in somebody’s face at a party?!”

You are soooo funny!

Is there any reason Ramirez can not release the names herself? Perhaps to the offices of key senators such as Flake and the rest of the leaners fand then hold a news conference and tell the press that these names have been given to the Senators. If the names are not in the FBI report call the investigation a sham and vote no.

I wouldn’t think Ramirez would go public with their names for privacy reasons, their privacy not hers.

I thought it was telling when one of her friends released the wedding party photo and said now she understands why Ramirez kept her distance from Brett that weekend. And here is Deborah trying to be the good Catholic young woman and not wanting to see or touch someone else’s junk before marriage.

I understand your comment; however, at some point someone has to provide information (perhaps confidentially) to someone that can stop this train wreck.

It is unfortunate that it has come to this as by the standards of most people I talk to there are many reasons from now, as opposed to high school and college, that make the judge not fit for not only the SCOTUS but the court he currently sits on.

@mattshuham: The text of your article says that Ramirez spoke with the FBI on Saturday, while the tweet from Ramirez’s lawyer, John Clune, says that the interview took place on Sunday. Which is correct? Or, did she have two interviews with the FBI?

Ummm, seems like the text messaging between Kavanot’s klan and the Yale crowd would yield a sufficient number of people to follow up with.

They gave the FBI the information for their investigators to follow up on, that is exactly where it should have gone. The question is if the FBI is going to be allowed to do the follow up interviews, and this implies that no, they aren’t.

And, really, is anyone surprised? The Republicans are doing everything they can to limit the damage to Kavanaugh, and to create an FBI report that basically says they couldn’t confirm any allegations that can be used as cover for a vote. It’s as much of a sham as the rest of the process, and it’s all been designed to force Kavanaugh onto the Court no matter what.

A real investigation would be talking to the people in the NBC News article, trying to get their hands on the text messages and see if the Kavanaugh people, or Kavanaugh himself, were trying to tamper with witnesses and block evidence. That’s grounds for disbarment for a lawyer I believe, and definitely would prove perjury by Kavanaugh. We’re not going to get that though, we’ll get a very basic questioning of a few people, a summary report that can’t prove any allegations (regardless of the efforts of the FBI that’s all they will be able to produce), and McConnell ramming Kavanaugh onto the Court.

It’s possible that Flake will look beyond the report and vote against Kavanaugh, he still seems shaken up by what’s going on and is listening to Coons about how bad this all is. I doubt anyone else jumps though, so we’ll get Pence making a tie breaking vote and that will be that. Maybe I’ll be wrong and the system will work as it should, maybe enough citizens yelling about it will shut things down, but at this point I see no reason to hope for that outcome.

I’ll note this as a public service: Genital Shovage would not be a good name for a band.

These public witnesses, and their corroborating witness lists have been laid at the feet of the FBI, it there is no follow up, no report of statements, no cross check, that too will become part of the record, and forever be an asterix next to Brett Kavanaugh’s name.

I would assume that Mayer and Farrow already have some or all of them—apparently they found Ramirez through that Yale email chain in the first place.
