I have a sad feeling it’s really going to go up now they have started looking.
Yes, it will.
But that’s not the only reason. The entire area’s infrastructure has been under water for a week (or longer by the time it finally recedes). That’s a nasty mix of salt water and chemical run off…and weight. That IS going to rust out things, break things, wear down things. And as more infrastructure breaks and collapses, more people will die.
And that’s before we start factoring in the potential for disease outbreak and mosquitoes.
Yeah, this is gonna be ugly for a while.
Also, is it me, or is this another ‘let me demonstrate my dumbness’ moment from Perry?
Energy Secretary Rick Perry said he would release 500,000 barrels of crude oil from an emergency stockpile in a bid to prevent gasoline prices from spiking.
500,000 barrels of crude, while…
the storm shut down everything from plastics plants to oil refineries
Yeah. That’ll help.
In a normal year,September is usually a horrible month for mosquitoes in SE Harris County where I live. I’m pretty fortunate that the Harris County Mosquito Control sprays regularly in the municipality where I live. Hope to see the trucks out this weekend.
