Yes. Nothing like an ever expanding Republican Party “Big” tent in which the Neo- Nazis are the leftists and the Nazis the mainstream to make for a GOP with broad appeal in America.
They don’t care because they are simpletons. Where we see Naziism as a societal failure, they see it as one really evil man carrying out his really evil wishes. Hitler’s just a generic boogieman to them. No big deal. Libs compared GWB to Hitler, repubs compare Obama to Hitler. Now lots of people are comparing Trump to Hitler. No big deal, just another nanny-nanny-boo-boo to them. And they’re rubber and we’re glue, so it bounces off of them and sticks to Hillary. In fact, Hillary and Hitler even have many of the same letters.
So if, in right wing logic, Obama = Osama, then I have little doubt that in a few months, Hillary will = Hitler.
Because “nanny-nanny-boo-boo.”
That is what I thought. Duke is an idiot who likes attention and the way he gets it is to do the most obnoxious thing he can imagine.
Sure, a small fraction of the Trump supporters are likely to decide that maybe Hitler wasn’t so bad. And even a tiny fraction of the Trump movement would swell Duke’s neo-NAZI ranks substantially.
But Trump could be compared to Bin Laden or ISIS or Saddam Hussein in the same way. Fascism isn’t limited to one country or one type of hate. A heck of a lot of the drivel that comes from Netanyahu’s mouth is essentially fascist, he just hates a different lot of people. That is why they get so upset at terms like ‘apartheid’ or ‘Jude crow’ being thrown about to describe their treatment of the Palestinians.
Trump is certainly playing the fascist card and that can get him to maybe 25% of the national vote. Party loyalty to the GOP might get him another 10% but probably not much more.
Trump is going to be crushed and likely take his party with him.
This is Drumpf’s sign from G-d. WTF!!!
Your words to the FSM’s noodley ears.
…another ringing endorsement!
There is no way to make Hitler look good…or Trump. The GOP has set themselves up for a fascist defeat.
See that’s my problem. I am going to lose an entire day thinking about what this means, when it means nothing at all given the source. But Duke thinks like Hitler. So being like Hitler is a good thing. Or is it. Insult or praise, but lukewarm because Hitler still looks good in comparison? Or is Hitler such a high bar that looking good in comparison is lofty praise? SO many questions, and yet still, just one? Where did these idiots come from?
Anyway, great point.
Ramen.
Well, I would argue that Hugo Boss and Leni Riefenstahl made some serious inroads back in the day.
Well, the Republicans certainly think Trump is the second coming of the Fuhrer, and since they’d seen that picture before, including the associated devastation, they believe that Trump must be stopped even by undemocratic maneuvering at the GOP nominating convention to deny him the nomination.
It is along that vein that in his oped piece on Saturday titled “The Party Decides”, the NYT’s conservative columnist Ross Douthat counseled the GOP: “So in Cleveland this summer, the men and women of the Republican Party may face a straightforward choice: Betray the large minority of Republicans who cast their votes for Trump, or betray their obligations to their country. For a party proud of its patriotism, the choice should not be hard.” Likewise, the right-leaning Washington Post editorial page published an editorial titled “To defend our democracy against Trump, the GOP must aim for a brokered convention”, in which, stating that it was a straightforward moral question they advised the GOP: “The mission of any responsible Republican should be to block a Trump nomination and election.” The latter editorial led me to write the following comment that brings me to back to the subject of comparisons between Trump and Hitler. If you saw the movie “Valkyrie” starring Tom Cruise, this should resonate:
This WaPo editorial and similar oped pieces by the right [NYT’s Ross Douthat] and right-leaving media [this WaPo editorial] remind me of why members of the German WW-II Resistance to the Nazis tried to assassinate Hitler in the failed July 20, 1944, attempt when it was already clear that Nazi Germany’s days were numbered. The mighty Deutch Wehrmacht was in retreat, having been routed and being pursued by the Red Army. It was only a matter of time before it was over.
All the members of the German Resistance movement had to do was wait for the Nazis to be defeated by the Bolsheviks and the allied forces and their and the world’s nightmare would have been over. Nope, they had to try to assassinate Hitler because, as Henning von Tresckow [Resistance leader] had put it memorably in the movie “Valkyrie” [played by Kenneth Branagh]:
“We have to show the world that not all of us are like him. Otherwise, this will always be Hitler’s Germany.”
All the Republicans have to do is to wait for Trump to go against Hillary in the general election and be destroyed in a 50-state landslide, especially if they vote against him [more palatable than voting for her!] or simply not vote at all, and they’d be rid of him forever. Instead, editorials and oped pieces are urging the Republicans to defend democracy against Trump by, quite likely, using undemocratic maneuvers to deny him the nomination, even if he is the overwhelming choice of Republican voters. Why is this course of action preferred? Well, because the Grand Ol’ Party…
… “has to show the world that not all of them are like him. Otherwise, it will always be Trump’s Party.”
What they ignore, of course, is that Trump is their creation, hatched by promises that they could not possibly keep, like saying again and again and again that they were going to repeal and replace Obamacare when they knew that they could do no such thing as long as Obama was POTUS! The members finally got fed up and embraced the next demagogue…
I think Duke and Trump are on heavy mind altering drugs.
You beat me to it.
In reference to an earlier TPM article, I did search for an autographed copy of Mein Kampf to send to donald, with the added notation, “Make America great again.”
A signed, two-volume set of Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” sold for $64,850 Thursday, nearly three times its expected sale price, according to the auction house that put the books up for sale. The early edition of the works, in which Hitler outlined his vision for a National Socialist movement founded on racist ideology before his
rise to power, was estimated to sell for between $20,000 and $25,000. Eleven people bid on the books, the Nate D. Sanders Auctions said.
Wouldn’t be surprised if donald was one of those eleven.
Farrakhan is supposedly a Trump fan/admirer.
Who says that threesomes/orgies can’t be awkward?
I am repeating this from another person:
If the Republican Party were to Nominate Donald Trump for President of the United States this would be the worst political decision by a Political Party in American history.
There are many posters speaking as though an election with Trump involved would have a tenth of the decorum, procedure and protocol of an ordinary election.
I would suggest a perusal of elections participated in by tyrants who came to power after those elections. It might be too late already, being that no one can say what this maniac Trump will do from day to day or minute to minute.
My favorite post today. Thank you for the smile…;0)
Call for the rule book.
OK, I guess if you’re David Duke, you’ve already violated Godwin’s Law before you even open your mouth, only you think it’s a good thing to violate Godwin’s Law, or something. You win the argument if you’re the first to mention Hitler, because if you’re David Duke, just being in the room constitutes a mention of Hitler.
OK, so, what has me confused is this question. Say you’re David Duke and your very existence is itself a mention of Hitler, but then you go on and mention Hitler verbally. Does this overt mention of Hitler undo the mention of Hitler constituted by your existence? I want to know if we’re in the same logic space as Mr. Mxyztlpk, and if he speaks his name backwards, David Duke goes back to the 25th dimension, where, until he showed up again a few weeks ago, he presumably has been hiding out since the Nineties?
“Prominent white supremacist David Duke said Monday that it benefits Adolf Hitler when Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump gets compared to him.”
Wait. What? Hitler’s running this year? I must have fallen asleep during the 2008 campaign, about the time it became MSM consensus that every time anyone said or did anything, it benefited McCain. So, now Hitler is the new McCain?
Damn, I didn’t do enough drugs in the 60s.
Might want to read the rest of his comments.
