āThe suspect said he was upset about Black Lives Matter,ā
The suspect did not approve of BLM?
āāThe suspect said he was upset about Black Lives Matter,ā Brown said.
āHe said he was upset about the recent police shootings. The suspect
said he was upset at white people. The suspect stated he wanted to kill
white people, especially white officers.ā
I see Iām not the only one confused by this statement, also interested in āWHOā this suspect is who acted āALONEā ?
Chief Brown said the shooter expressed anger with BLM as well.
I bet this is simply an inarticulate turn of phrase by Brown. Saying āupset about Black Lives Matterā just means the shooter was angry about police killings of black people, not that the shooter was angry at BLM.
What is confusing is that there were initial reports that the Dallas PD had three people in custody, but this dead guy is being depicted as the sole shooter.
[āThe suspect said he was upset about Black Lives Matter,ā Brown said. āHe said he was upset about the recent police shootings. The suspect said he was upset at white people. The suspect stated he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers. The suspect stated he will eventuallyāthat weāll eventually find the IEDs.ā]
I do not wish to be misunderstoodā¦but the first sentenceāif the logic I am seeing to it bears up to scrutinyāis very good news for the Human Race. This misguided unfortunate is upset WITH Black Lives Matterā¦and is not speaking FOR the organization. As such, this man COULD have attacked the police at any time and SEPARATE FROM Black Lives Matter activities.
This will give Trump and the Republicans less validation for what I am sure will be an attack on the BLM movement.
The other point of attack could conceivably be Mr. Obamaās remarks before the shootings as provocative. Obamaās remarks did not appear as provocative to me. He balanced his concern with the victims of police violence with praise and respect for law enforcement personnel and we will have to trust that most people will feel the same way I did.
Just agitated generally, I guess, on the topic of police shootings. Not necessarily upset against.
I think Chief Brown is under a lot of stress, so one can understand his being a little inarticulate. I interpreted this comment to mean that the suspect was upset and the BLM protest catalyzed his anger and hatred. This most recent mass shooting is a hate crime, then. I feel as if Iām living inside an insane asylum in the twilight zone of the outer limits.
I feel worse, because it does NOT feel strange and unusual. Just, unfortunately, the new normal.
Yes, I hope we learn more quickly about the other people detained.
Get ready for the tortured attempts by the powers that be (and the media) to disassociate this event from the broader (and glaring) problem of cops killing black people. This sickening slaughter is a direct result of cops killing black people all over the country. You can be sure that Fox News is already revving up the engine to blame Obama, gun control advocates and anyone/anything other than cops killing black people. On the other hand, the NRA will trot out its standard call for more guns to solve the problem. Things are really f**ked up in America right now.
UPDATE: Sure enough, right on cue, Fox News web site articles/comments are saying this is Obamaās fault because he sympathizes with BLM. The bigots and racists who live in that universe could not care less about their black fellow citizens who live in fear every day because of police killing them.
I have been in my share of protests, especially in my youth. During those days, a significant point of conflict among us was the idea of people in agreement with the grievances BUT in disagreement with TACTICS. And where I am going with this is the following:
The individual could have disliked BLM OR could have been upset with the idea of PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATIONS by BLM. In both instances I see an anti-BLM sentiment. In my days as a youthful activist, the fights among people IN OUR CAMP who claimed tactics were too āweakā were nearly as emotional as fights between us and the āenemyā
Obama gave a very nice, professional response to this.
Bottom line is itās not a good time to be an police officer right now - and you can blame the rogue ones for that.
we will have to trust that most people will feel the same way I did.
Iām sure you know thatāunfortunatelyāthis will not be the case. You can be assured that hordes of white racists are already blaming and threatening Obama.
If Trump doesnāt come out with an unhinged, inflammatory tweet laying all of this directly at Obamaās feet, Iāll be shocked.
So they have three (#?) other suspects and wonāt talk about them, but tell us in great detail what they claim a fourth suspect said. Particularly of interest is the suspect says he acted alone. This is the suspect that they blew up with a remote controlled bomb.
So if the suspect is truthful and did act alone, who are these other people they are holding?
If the suspect is lying, why are they repeating his lies?
Donāt want to rag on the police for doing their jobs, but from my naive point of view, this isnāt the greatest PR job.
Recipe for disaster
-
White racist cops (few among numerous good) murder Blacks
-
Blacks resulting anxiety and anger
-
Access to high powered weapons
-
NRA
-
Republican Congressmen refusing to pass gun controlf
The other people have been read their Miranda rights and may not be communicating.
If the police didnāt report what the deceased said, their omission could be used against the prosecution in any trial of others.
This is a no-win situation.
I dunno. If the dead guy was telling the truth (and we donāt know that he was - how better to cover your comrades than to insist youāre a lone wolf?), then I can see that statement as āthis guy was mad at the cops, and he was mad at BLM for insisting on peaceful protesting, and not advocating a mass uprisingā.
Thereās a lot better ways to kill cops than to take aim at a BLM protest, if you support BLMās goals.
I think the longer they withold the identity of the suspect the more anxious people will be.
Funny, I was just thinking something similar myself.
Seems to me thereās a sense now of some bedrock aspect of American society unraveling at this point. I wouldnāt say it was any one thing thatās to blame for this. Rather, thereās a sense from very disparate groups to see as much chaos and violence possible to prove their point. Thereās no longer a sense that American society can work out any issue it has right now. the feeling is EVERYTHING is too overwhelming and the only thing to do is just create more chaos and violence
(The myth of Pandoraās Box is very apt as far as I can tell. In that myth, Pandora opened the box that she was told NOT to open and every single bad thing that humans could dredge up was set free. The last thing to be set free was hope.)
In a sense this is the worst possible news. In another sense, it happened in July instead of October.
Throughout all of this. Les Moonvesā creation is still out there, having invigourated the racists you describe. We are at an impasse, and the Americans are faced with either saving their country of not. Because I have no doubt that if Trump were to arrange for the murder of every African American and Latino in this country (a successful ārace warā), the United States would be worse off for the whites who remain.
We will now see how much the MSM wishes to eventually become the Information Bureau for Trumpās Fourth Reich.
