What were the fans of The-Team-I-Will-Not-Name (though I note TPM has no such compunction) expecting when they went on the Daily Show? To be mocked, but not have their feelings hurt?

It’s SO much easier to disrespect a group when they remain a nebulous “them.” So much harder when they show up in the flesh. Who wouldn’t feel threaten when confronted with flesh and blood people you thought were only stereotypes to help sell tickets?

I wonder if the term “ticket scalping” will be changed because it too is offensive.

It’s my understanding that scalping was a European practice adopted by Native Americans. But it’s certainly offensive.

I have no idea why anyone goes on that show if they’re remotely in a position to be the target. They stand no chance. The folks at the Daily Show are pros, are prepared and are in control. The show is great, these Redskins fans are idiots and should stop whining. They knew they’d be the butt of the joke, it’s their own fault that their feeble imagination didn’t prepare them for what actually awaited them.
