Actually one reason the NYT editorial endorsed Recchia was that he did a credible job as finance chair of the NY City Council.
I think I’ve figured out my campaign slogan: “Vote MisterNeutron. Never Indicted!”
Grimm… it’s downright bleak.
I remember voting for someone for approximately the same reason. I Dem. (I forget his name) had evaded taxes, was under indictment, and was surely headed for federal prison. The Rep. (I forget his name too) was quite vile and, IIRC, widely believed to be crooked as well. The Dem. was clearly the better choice especially since he wasn’t going to serve long. The kicker: they were running for the state Attorney General. This was Illinois of course.
IOKIYAR from the Corporate Controlled Conservative Press…Hmmm, where have I seen CCCP* before???*
Grimm is a character right out of Boardwalk Empire – minus the acting ability.
When Edwin Edwards ran against David Duke, his slogan was, “Vote for the Crook!”. In that case, it made sense, since Duke was a Klansman/neo-Nazi. But Recchia is neither. In fact, there is little against him except that he isn’t the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree. However, he’s seeking to join a House in which Louie Gohmert and Hank Johnson are members, so where’s the problem?
How bad is the Democrat?
And the costs of special election. And here I thought the Republicans were the party of fiscal probity. At least, that’s what they keep telling the electorate. As rabbit would say: “Stupid voters.”
He’s inarticulate and none too bright.
He is, however, better than Grimm by an order of magnitude.
You’ve possibly come up with the most practical campaign slogan. “Whatever he’s done I haven’t.”
a down-to-earth Democrat. . . solid record of achievement on cultural and financial issues as a member of the New York City Council, where he served as chairman of the powerful Finance Committee and helped negotiate the city’s $70 billion budget
Recchia is neither glib nor quick witted and so in contrast to Grimm doesn’t stand out, but NY doesn’t need anymore of what Grimm offers. That’s the overall opinion.
Well, the GOP only cares about fiscal responsibility when it benefits anyone but them or the Koch Brothers. The Republican’s push for fiscal responsibility is actually at risk of causing our economy to fail as a number of businesses have started to note that their profits are steadily heading towards the crapper thanks to the destruction of our infrastructure and the dismantling of the “freebie economy”.
