Discussion for article #225935

Is there anyone out there who would be surprised if this were the McDaniel campaign’s original description?

You think they originally used “dusky”?

This being Mississippi, I think the term they used was “darky”.

OMG! A Republican reached across party lines to make the case that his opponent is a whackjob TeaNut!

I love how this is a crime now.

Maybe? (to give it either a more artistic or circumspect vibe)

McDaniel must now make his decision: Will he quit? His church, First ShiiteBaptist, dedicated the opening hymn to McDaniel yesterday.

This was fun for a bit. Watching the republicans rip apart their own was train wreck interesting, fascinating at first, but quickly moving to nightmarish. McDaniel needs to dry his eyes, stop pissing his pants and concede.

The term “Black Republican” itself was an expression of contempt used by white southerners to describe white Radical Republicans who aided freedmen in their quest for public office during the late 1860’s and early 1870’s.

The Southern Democrats who opposed Reconstruction back in the 1860’s had a few things in common with the Southern Republicans today, they were also conservative.

Okay, quick quiz. Which whines more?

A. A jet engine at takeoff

B. the failed McDaniel campaign?

I imagine their preferred term is none of those words listed above.

McDaniel staffer: “Hey, Chris, you know, we’ve come a long way in the Repubican party. We got Mo over there accusing Dems of a war on whites. We’ve got candidates openly associating with White Power groups. We’ve got tons of policies that disproportionately target minorities and benefit whites, and the Southern Strategy is really all we have left in the South. But, geez, we still need to dogwhistle somewhat in Federal elections. Let’s just say Democrats. Our base will understand their skin color implicitly.”

Screw this implicit crap. As long as they don’t actually use the word “nigger” they’re fine. Anyone who points it out will be a race-baiter.

Let your white sheet flap in the wind, GOTPers.

The Tea-Baggers feel they have a copyright on “race-baiting” and no one but them are “allowed” to use it! Anything else is “UN-AMERICAN”.

Reject these scurrilous lies about the McDaniel supporters.

I know with certainty that the first version did not mention “black” anywhere.

It said “blah democrat vote,” plain as day. You libs insist on bringing race into everything.

They are all racist!! So Hotty Toddy to all of that I am leaving this state in December finally after 23 years good riddance!
