Discussion: Cuomo Cruised To Victory Alongside His Preferred Attorney, Lieutenant Generals

cuomos win was never in doubt though all it proves is how easy it is to get people to vote against their best interests.
nixon may not have been the best opposition but she did prove that cuomo far from being a liberal/progressive actually governs as a right wing republican proving it by giving republicans all the state power while in the minority.

he is a complete disgrace and at least any hope he may have had at running for president is long gone now.

That’s your opinion, I don’t share it. I voted for him.

Also ironic that he disparaged Nixon as a name recognition candidate when his entire political career has been based on the name recognition he inherited from his father. He remains a very reluctant Democrat who has almost no substantive followers and is funded almost completely by donors from the financial and real estate sectors. No wonder he didn’t show his face, even in victory.

I have not seen any buzz about Nixon stupidly running as a spoiler.

It’s a free world!

Indeed, and this article fails to note that his enablers on this in the State Senate lost bad last night.

Your mouth to dog ears…

Maybe Cynthia Nixon can perform your next colonoscopy, since she is about as qualified to do so as she is to head one of the most complex governments in the world. Cuomo is a dick? News at Eleven. At least he is a competent dick. No, he won’t go to the White House. There was no question who to vote for. Cynthia Nixon adds rich new dimensions to the term ā€œcolossal narcissist.ā€

I’m a bit confused by the headline. Who are Cuomo’s Lieutenant Generals? Are general officers in the New York National Guard elected?

Lieutenant Governor.

Bernie pulled yet another oh-fer in state-wide races. Jus’ sayin.’ Three more strikeouts. Viva la revolucion! LOL.

Presumably then, he also has an Attorney Governor. Or should we just assume that the headline writer was insufficiently caffeinated this early in the morning?

Cuomo has been a very good governor and deserves re-election. If you’re a POC, few Governors have been more protective of POC and the vulnerable from the Trump Administration than has Cuomo. I think the Nixon campaign really tried to ā€˜other’ Cuomo and it was offensive in the wake of the living example of moral decay in Trump.

Cuomo did perhaps more than any to get Puerto Rico’s back and Nixon tried to paint him as morally unacceptable. That’s just nuts. She ran a Bernie '16 (post Super Tuesday through Convention) style campaign to attack his character and malign him. The only thing missing was the Russian bots to aid her. She was an awful candidate, a discordant note in an otherwise fantastic primary season, and I’m glad she got clobbered in the primary. She deserved it.

It’s an unpopular opinion, but Cuomo is the POTUS that America deserves. He’s socially awkward, a little corrupt, can play dirty, but also knows how to get things done, and his values and policy positions are more in line with the American mainstream. We’re not as good as Obama nor as bad as Trump. We might just be…Andrew Cuomo.

The bigger news from last night’s election is that the turnout was over 2x 2014. Given how many House districts the Dems are targeting with solid candidates, Dems could end up winning 5 in NYS alone on election night.

ā€œHe was mocked for saying America ā€œwas never that greatā€ during remarks criticizing Trump’s ā€œMake America Great Againā€ slogan.ā€

Here the reporter retypes the same bad, slanted no-context dig every other reporter has done. The remark was at an event and speech given on the topic of equality for opportunities for women! That was the reason for Cuomo speaking that day. I guess to include the context avoids making him sound ā€œliberalā€ or ā€œprogressiveā€ and that was the theme for the election, right?

Apparently, Nixon is not the one. I’m sick and tired of candidates who get beat 2 to 1 claim a ā€œvictoryā€. The other good news about Nixon losing is that we don’t have to look at her ugly husband.

I think Cuomo has been an OK Governor. Perfect? Great? By no means, but not so inadequate as to not deserve his party’s nomination. As far as running for President, I don’t think nominating a guy from Queens to run against another guy from Queens is really the ticket for 2020. Nope, we need someone who can win back PA, WI, MI and even FL, OH and NC and better yet make inroads in GA and AZ and a few other purple states.

He has a good record and is qualified to run. He’s certainly more qualified than Eric Garcetti. Whether he would win the nomination or not is based on how the primary voters feel about him.

Sure he’s qualified to run. Hillary was more than qualified, got the nomination and lost. We need a candidate with a life story better than ā€œDaddy was Governor (or Mayor) and now I am tooā€. Maybe it shouldn’t, but the ability to excite people matters and who is ga-ga over Andrew Cuomo?

That’s what one could call tepid turd polishing. His top two aides were convicted of corruption, that reeks of being more than a ā€œlittle corruptā€

It’s up to the voters. I’m in the Kamala Harris/Sherrod Brown camp. Cuomo isn’t at the top of my list but he has a very good record as Governor and hard earned trust with POC voters (black and latino) to sell to the people and could be formidable if he runs a good campaign. No one is gonna care about the IDC crap outside of NY (and the voters there didn’t care either).

Here’s the thing: POC voters trust him. That’s something far lefties have to get through their heads. They’re not going to make headway unless they connect with POC voters. An agenda that says that economic justice matters more than racial justice isn’t going to fly with POC voters. In addition, trying to slam Cuomo as morally unacceptable when he was out there getting Puerto Rico’s back feels offensive to many POC voters. It shows that a lot of people on the far left simply don’t get. For POC voters, they live under existential threats created by the GOP and Trump. Cuomo is out there trying to help. Wtf was Cynthia Nixon doing? Not much.
