Um, the entire notion from Nixon and the Berniebros loonies that Cuomo is some kind of Republican-lite, neo-liberal, corporatist, and whatever other meaningless catch-phrases they toss at him.
Does he promise to hand out unicorns and pony rides? No, but he has a fine liberal record:
Cuomo was a staunch early advocate of same-sex marriage, and pushed through NY’s marriage equality law. He is staunchly pro-choice. Cuomo pushed through even stricter gun control laws after Sandy Hook (SAFE Act). He supports and pushed through an increase in the NY min wage to $15/hour. He supports and pushed through paid family leave. He supports and pushed through universal funding for public college for middle and lower-income families, funded in part by reinstating a “millionaires’ tax.” In judicial system reforms, he supported and pushed through raising the age at which juvenile offenders can be tried as adults, and created a legal defense fund for immigrant defendants. In addition to increasing taxes on millionaires, he provided a tax break for union workers. He has instituted a fracking ban and cracked down on agro-dumping. He has fought for increased spending on education in urban areas.
Um, yeah, but other than that, he’s just like a Republican [rolleyes]. But, hey, what’s all that experience and production of actual, liberal results compared to a candidate with zero relevant experience who is only a candidate because she was once on a cable TV soap-opera-esque show and can now toss meaningless platitudes around?
