Elijah Cummings being on the Benghazi Committee and House Oversight Committee was a big reason that Gowdy and Issa were kept in check from spreading misrepresentations of evidence and outright lies to the public. I’m afraid he’s going to have his hands full again with Chaffetz.

I believe you have to prove intent for the Hatch Act. It appears quite obvious to me but that doesn’t make it easy to prove.
What I would like to see happen is in the event Hillary wins tomorrow, Democrats need to immediately convene and start talking strategy. They need to line up a group of themselves to appear on TV EVERYDAY to push against media narratives and to call out Republicans efforts to investigate and block her from doing anything. We need to learn from what Obama went through. I think things will be even worse for Clinton than they were from him

A lot of people have egg on their faces including Jason Fuckface Chaffetz. Don’t expect him to help clean it up. Chaffetz and his witch-hunt committee have been part of the problem, not the solution. Its the never-ending pursuit of political partisanship that has driven this story from day one, beyond the 7 extremely GOP-driven Benghazi hearings.
These hearings were started in anticipation of Hillary running for President in order to try and hurt her electorally from the beginning. If people like Chaffetz didn’t have this committee they’d have to focus on actually legislating something worthwhile for the American people, or finding real misdeeds and ethical lapses among their own members in Congress…and that’s not gonna happen so long as the GOP controls things there. People who elect these rightwing nutjobs don’t mind them wasting our tax dollars on total bullshit, so long as it grinds our gov’t into the ground.

Did anyone see Frank Luntz’s focus group on 60 minutes? I couldn’t tell if his group was representative, or fabricated to reflect the preferred shit-on-a-shingle narrative across the board. But it sure was dramatic television; people turned on one another almost immediately, with nothing good to say about nobody and darned near fisticuffs over who is worse.
I have to assume that Comey, who seems to be some kind of self perceived straight arrow, has already written his resignation letter and will be submitting it to the President Elect on November 9; she would be asking for it anyways. Why go through the mess and shame of grillings in front of Congress?

When Don Hewitt left “60 Minutes” and then died that show hasn’t been the same since. It hawked the Iraq War almost the entire time. It’s been pro-war, pro-corporation, pro-police state, and has bent towards being pro-Republican ever since. It usually doesn’t break stories so much as it globs onto whatever story has already been exposed to the public and tries to tailgate on some aspect of other people’s work in journalism. Once in a great while, it does some story that advances an already existing piece of journalism, but its a shell of its former self imo. And Frank Luntz is a hack that manages to get hired by someone willing to buy his unscientific methodological bullshit. He’s always been infotainment at best, and propaganda at worst at whatever he does.

Under Obama that would almost certainly have been true.
