Cummings Asks White House: Which Ethics Rules Don’t Apply To You?

Chiselin’ Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen: “I’ll answer that question. All of them!”

The ethics free trump administration will totally ignore these concerns and be backed fully by the ethics free republican majorities in the House and Senate. We are into the age of zero integrity politics. Sad!

Other than writing letters, what recourse do we have?? This is sickening, but not at all unexpected. The most corrupt, inept Administration since that of Warren Harding.

Which ethics rules don’t apply to this White House? Until the time arrives when Republicans decide that they care, all of them.

Edited to fix a contradictory grammatical error.

Well I hear the President can not have a conflict of interest, so I guess none.

We should remember to look into this at some time

“Mr. Passantino asserted in his letter to Director Shaub that ‘many regulations promulgated by the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) do not apply to the employees of the Executive Office of the President.’
Rep. Cummings failed to mention that he received a gif back from the WH.

I think they already have Harding beat. In a couple weeks it won’t even be close.

Nixon said if the President did it, it wasn’t against the law. These f’ers think the whole f’ing White House is immune.

In fact everything a president does is OK unless the Congress chooses to impeach him. There is no other action allowable per the Constitution. Even if the president turns over his nuclear bomb controls to a foreign enemy of the US, all that can be done per the Constitution is an impeachment. And, impeachment can only be done by the House. Given that the ethics challenged Republicans control the House we should just feel blessed if Trump doesn’t let Putin take over his office, the treasury, the military, and his wife.

Mr President, have you changed your opinion of the 2nd Amendment Solution?

‘many regulations promulgated by the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) do not apply to the employees of the Executive Office of the President.’

Does anyone else find this eerily reminiscent of another White House counsel who wrote, “In my judgment, this new paradigm renders obsolete Geneva’s strict limitations on questioning of enemy prisoners and renders quaint some of its provisions”?

This notion that the law doesn’t apply to us is the very basis of the Führerprinzip. Welcome to the Fourth Reich.

Which rules don’t apply? All of them.

Ethics, as Trump might paraphrase his late NYC real estate rival Leona Hemsley, are for the little people. The chumps who pay taxes.

Elijah Cummings may have the most difficult job in D.C. - Ranking Member of the House Oversight Committee with Trump as president and Jason (not going to investigate anything Trump-like without a fight) Chaffetz as Chairman. He is a true patriot and the country needs him to fight to maintain our democracy. A lot of people in a similar position would just say “Fuck this shit - I’m outta here.”
