Discussion: Cuban Skepticism Grows Over US Claims Against Cuba On Diplomat Attacks

We don’t have to worry about Cuba. It is an island surrounded by water. A very big ocean.

Hard to see what Cuba would get out of doing this. Russia, however…

It is also the type of thing Russia has done along with assassinations and prosecution of Putin critics. It is also the type of thing the US gleefully did when it invaded Panama, blaring “I Fought the Law and the Law Won” at the building where Manuel Noriega had sought refuge 24/7 for days and weeks.

No. This is a sonic blast that’s different and causes physical harm. Noriega was just psysops.

Calling it psyops does not change the fact that it was deliberate sonic torture. Not just of Noriega, either, but of everyone who was unfortunate enough to live in the vicinity of the building where he had taken refuge. It was intended to deprive him (and the people who happened to live nearby) over a period of weeks, of sleep and respite from the continuous barrage of loud American pop music and heavy metal. I understand that the frequency used in the Cuba situation is intended to cause more serious harm, but calling the Noriega/Panama use of sound as a weapon psyops does not sanitize it.

Don’t worry folks, I’m sure TuPOS will respond in a mature and thoughtful manner so as not to disrupt the progress we’ve finally made with Cuba after 50 years.

A ‘Sonic Attack’ on Diplomats in Cuba? These Scientists Doubt It

But who you gonna believe, scientists or the Trump admin?

It does sound a bit like a mass-hysteria episode.

Whatever the cause(s) of the symptoms, the whole incident is very convenient for an admin that wants to scuttle any progress made in US/Cuba relations.

Seems pretty obvious that no matter who is behind this – Russia, elements within Cuba and their intelligence services, some terrorist group, elements within the US and our intelligence services, or whoever – the goal is obviously to sour U.S. - Cuba relations. And of course the Trump administration is giving whoever it is exactly what they want.

Have the names of the Americans (and Canadians, I believe) allegedly affected by these sonic attacks been made public? I’m asking because I can’t say that I’ve read anything beyond the stories of unnamed persons being affected by said attacks.

Have any of the diplomats given interviews? If not, why not? Surely the best way to lay this out before us to do broadcast several interviews. I don’t understand how this sonic attack can be so specific, so controlled and so secret. Our intelligence agencies have solved major problems over the years. Why not this one? Something stinks!!!

Heard an interview on NPR with a sound expert saying the only way sonic waves could have impacted people in the manner they are saying is if probes and ear phones were attached directly to the head. Methinks the Cubans are correct in laughing at this episode of trumpian non-reality tv.

You’re missing the point. What is happening in Cuba is an actual sonic weapon that causes physical harm. Loud music of any variety was designed to cause fatigue, lack of sleep and all that it entailed. That’s what psychological operations/ warfare is. It was not a sonic weapon though.

Sounds like the GWB White House Counsel’s Legal Opinion about how Torture is not Really Torture When WE Do It . I said I understood that the sound recorded at the US Embassy was at a different frequency and was probably intended to do actual physical harm. Blasting Noriega and the entire neighborhood was malicious and intentional and was intended to cause harm. I am waiting with bated breath to see who is responsible for the beamed sound in Cuba.

Ummm…no. Not even close. There is a serious qualitative difference. I taught interrogation for the military and don’t even get me started on that debacle.

I’ve explained it twice. If you’re not clever enough to tell the difference, that’s on you.

You taught interrogation for the military. That’s all I need to know.

Of course that’s all you need to know, because you’re an ignorant blowhard that can’t understand or comprehend the written word. Because of course your knowledge of interrogation is based on Hollywood or the bastardization of Cheney and Bush.

Of course you don’t know that 98% of the people we talk to will tell you whatever you want simply by establishing rapport and offering them a cigarette and a cup of coffee.

Of course you don’t know that Hans Scharff of the German Luftwaffe pioneered the psychological approach in WWII and that forms the basis of our interrogation policy today (at least it did before Cheney bastardized everything and became a war criminal).

But you have all you need to know. Which is nothing. Idiot. You’re worse than a Trump-ite, because you pretend to yourself you’re smart.

And you were the benign saintly interrogator who “simply…established a rapport and offered a cup of coffee or cigarrette”…after they had been subjected to sonic torture (but only the psyops kind, so it is cool) and deprived of food for hours…
