Discussion: Cruz Says Decision To Endorse Trump Was 'Agonizing'

Trump: I always knew and felt that Cruz is a whiny little baby. When I become POTUS, I will look into if his mother was indeed an American Citizen when she was in Canada. That means there is a good chance that he gets deported.

“Cruz said that calls from Republican activists pushed him to back Trump.”
Cruz went on to say: “And I always listen to the crazy voices in my head.”

Cruz really has a tin ear for just about everything personal, political, whatever. He is a prisoner of his own self-righteousness. He is rabid.

You know what’s 'agonizing? Listening to whatever comes out of this a**hole’s pie hole.

I was going to comment that selling your soul is frequently said to be agonizing, but Cruz has no soul to speak of.

Therefore, I call bullshit. Cruz sold out quite easily and with no regrets.

Yes, but was it your own “personal Vietnam?”

What did he offer you for your endorsement Ted? Whatever it is, you’ve been had.

Why Cruz can’t be seen as anything more than a snake oil salesman is beyond me.

WTF kind of endorsement is that?

“They were tearfully begging me to support the nominee,” Cruz said.

Translated: They threatened to cut off campaign cash, then I cried.

“Yeah, I know he called me a worthless piece of shit. And I know he called my wife a butt-ugly whore. And I know he accused my father of being the second gunman at the book depository in Dallas in November of 1963. But did you see that gold-plated toilet on his taxpayer-funded campaign plane? Now THAT’S a Republican!”

Ted Cruz has all the integrity and compassion of Donald Trump. Did anyone honestly believe he WOULDN’T support the Great Orange Temple of Smegma?

Oh, he has regrets. And they will reveal themselves in about 2 years when he either runs for the Senate again or runs for Governor.

This was a foolish move all around for him, as it came so late that it gains him nothing with the Trump supporters and it comes early enough that it kills him with the NeverTrumpers. And anybody that didn’t care only has complete disgust for him now.

He found a way to make a bad situation completely worse and damage himself with every republican voter out there. Probably including even his wife.

So the basket of deplorables moved him. yaa. Cross off “principled” on his “principled, consistent, conservative” bumpah stickah.

seems like the pompously pious asshole should believe that agonizing is something similar to being forced to wear a crown of thorns or having to drag your cross up a hillside to your own crucifixion or having your side pierced with a sword for the pleasure of the crowd…

I am frequently depressed about Trump but this news reminds me that it could have been worse.

Also, I did not know that it snowed in Texas in August - still learning.

Cruz was so agonized about the decision that he began whoring out his own mailing list to Trump at least a month before the GOP convention:

"Just six weeks after he dropped out – and more than a month before Cruz would dramatically snub the nominee at the Republican National Convention – the senator quietly began renting his vast donor email file to his former rival, pocketing at least tens of thousands of dollars, and more likely hundreds of thousands, that can be used to bankroll the Texan’s own political future.

Trump began paying to solicit some of Cruz’s supporters for campaign cash as early as June 17. “We need you to stand with Mr. Trump before it is too late,” read the initial Trump campaign missive. A second solicitation came the next day. Another came the day after that. All told, in the last three months Trump has emailed at least some segments of Cruz’s donor list more than 30 times."

Given that a significant portion of Cruz supporters were outraged at his endorsement of Trump, they’re going to be apoplectic when they find out their hero was selling their names to Trump.

I think Cruz may have signed his political death warrant in Texas with this mind-bogglingly cynical move.

From Saturday’s Austin American-Statesman: Cruz: For nation, I’ll skip Trump apology.
