Discussion: Cruz Responds To Report That He'd Have No Problem If Daughter Were Gay

Why didn’t anyone ask him if he’d allow his gay daughter to get married?

"This is what it means to truly be a ‘big tent Republican’, and a big fat hypocrite who says he would love and support people at the same time as he’s working to prevent them from having the same rights as him.

fify, Ted

Crux explained that when asked at the event whether he supported gay marriage, he responded by reiterating his support for “traditional marriage.”

Crux of Confusion = Ignorance, Arrogance and Stupidity

LET US HOPe crUZ does not reproduce!

But is he even any good at THAT?

In 2012 Cruz rose up to game the GOP nomination for US Senator during what’s very likely to be known to history as Peak Tea (the general election in that state being a relative formality, given the single party hold the GOP has in Texas over everything).

Go review the list of those who endorsed the relatively unknown Cruz for the GOP nod over the far established power figure, then LtGov David Dewhurst. The most prominent among Cruz’ endorsers include those who themselves running or are supporting a relative or longtime ally in this 2016 presidential run (Rand Paul, Santorum, Ron Paul the only Bush who bothered, long-time Bushie Ed Meese), those whose power, such as it was, peaked with the Teaps (Sarah Palin, Coburn, Demint), and Teap Radio ‘leaders’ who jumped aboard for themselves but jumped for the next armadillo and likely will never come back in a Teapster-on-Teapster contest (Club for Growth, Freedomworks, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh).

Everyone on that list - the endorsement lits CRUCIAL to Cruz ambushing Dewhurst - is either confirmed gone, practically gone, or sitting out the fireworks until the GOP nomination process is over in the summer of 2016.

In 2012, Cruz got 4.5 million votes in a locked-in/locked-out process where 8 million voted, for a long list of offices. There is no evidence that Cruz has any constituency of support outside fo that context, beyond a few Texas billionaires and a slice of the Texas Teapster pie.

There were 127 million voted cast in the 2012 presidential general. Obama won with 66 million. It will take that many and more to win in 2016, given it won’t involve incumbency re-election and holds the prospect fo the first ever woman president. Cruz has no state constituency, no regional constituency, no policy edge, no chits to call in, no history to point to … except by historical fluke in a freak wave that’s passed by years ago, how is Cruz even in the discussion? Answer: Look at the 2012 GOP Crazy Clown Car Race. EVERY SINGLE ONE of those clowns got their 2 weeks, Mitt Romney several of them.

Cruz is no different at this stage than Huckabee, Santorum, Carson, Fiorina, Jindal, any of the other marginal candidates, who will hang around in this process until the first cull.

No, Ted. If your daughters were gay and you opposed their full equality, then you do love them less.

What I want to know is why gay hoteliers are holding a fund raiser for Cruz?

So…if one of his daughters was gay he’d still love her unconditionally just as much. But…if she wanted to get married to her partner, he’d gladly consign her to second-class citizenship. Yeah, that’s a guy with principles that we should really respect.

Can we get past thinking there are two types of love. If it’s conditional, it’s not love.

Can we also get past thinking states should determine what rights get bestowed on who. We would still have slavery in the south if individual states got to vote on it and women may only be aloud to vote in some of the states.

“I love my daughter unconditionally. Even if she were gay! Of course, then I would refuse to let her marry the person she loved and have children with her, and I’d be sure to let her know that her wanting to do so is not just an abomination before God but a terrible threat to my own and all other “real” marriages! But I love her! I just don’t want her to be happy.”

He’ll love his gay daughter just as long as she marries the man he chooses for her.

“I love my gay daughter, but I would still discriminate against her. Just like if she was straight and dated a black man.”

Cruz got really good at rationalizing discrimination as a GOP member who is a non-Caucasian immigrant…

No doubt he would have no problem treating his straight daughter like a second class citizen, either
