The scenario that worries me the most is a San Bernardino scale (or worse) terrorist attack on U.S. soil a few weeks before the election. And Trump riding the wave of fear and hatred right into the Oval Office.
The scary part is, if that’s something that is desired by ISIL or Al Qaeda or whoever, it’'s something they could very plausibly pull off. And why shouldn’t they want Trump? Surely, like everyone else, they must realize that the election of Donald Trump as President would be a huge embarrassment for the United States, making us the laughingstock of the world (and rightly so).
I wonder how much thought our security officials have given to this scenario – terrorists timing attacks to influence elections.
