Discussion: Cruz: Dems' Proposed Amendment Would 'Muzzle' Liberal Groups (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #223459

Ah. Concern troll is concerned.

This is embarrassingly bad, to be advocating for the first time in our history that we amend the First Amendment to restrict the rights of citizens to speak,ā€

Yes because limiting MONEY in politics is clearly infringing upon free speech. Sure.
What a bullshit spin.
I want all the money OUT of politics. If that includes PP and NAACP, so be it. Just so long as the other side is limited as well.

"Cruz said that he intended to introduce two bills to address ā€œthe free speech rights of individuals.ā€

EXCEPT the list he offered was full of NON-INDIVIDUALS.

Planned Parenthood
National Right to Life
the Sierra Club,
the National Rifle Association
the Brady Center on Handgun Violence.
the Teamsters
the National Education Association.
the NAACP.
the Anti-Defamation League.

Michael Moore and Dinesh Dā€™Souza are ALREADY restricted from unlimited, unaccountable donations.

When The Tedster starts in with his fake ā€˜concernā€™ for liberal groups, you know the thing heā€™s bitching about it worth supporting

ā€œCorporations are not people and money is not speech.ā€

Writing tip: Some words sound silly when repeated seven or eight times. ā€œMuzzleā€ is one of those words.

Trying to use the old Jedi mind trick on us?

Oh, well, nevermind then. We only want to do things that adversely affect our opponents while propping up our side.

Anything that helps democracy by injuring both sides is clearly something nobody would ever want to do.

As a strong liberal, the proposed amendment doesnā€™t bother me a bit. Itā€™s all about the outsize influence of anonymous money. Cruzā€™ ā€œconcernā€ for us liberals is touching, though!

What the SC determined in its ruling in the Citizen United case was that ā€œfree speechā€ ainā€™t free when it comes to elections and politics. The SCā€™s version of ā€œfree speechā€ is that it costs a lot of damn money to be heard.

Elected officials pay attention to those with money, not those who merely have a vote. Why do the Koch brothersā€™ opinions matter more than those of me and my wife? Because they have a lot more money than I do and give it to those who will do their bidding. Oligarchy is replacing our democracy because of the primacy of money in influencing public policy. The dollars of rich folks trump the votes of poor folks.

And by the way, Ted Cruz is a lying liar.

The first amendment was killed with Citizens United ā€¦ a bit late with the faux outrage Ted.

ā€œā€¦liberal as well as conservative groups.ā€
But weā€™re only concerned about conservative groups. They help us raise money for TV ads and buy state legislators and governors to hobble Democratic voters with voter ID laws designed to fix a nonexistent problem."

Itā€™s the same now in Russia and China. Donā€™t interfere with the government and the government will let you get rich.

Iā€™d be happy if someone would find a way to muzzle this asshole.

ā€œMuzzleā€ ā€“ the open end of the barrel of a firearm.

Even when pukes like Carnival Cruz are trying to make a totally unrelated point, its still all about their fucking gunz and the size of their penises.

Mr Cruz, money donated to a candidate isnā€™t speech. Itā€™s money donated to a candidateā€¦period. Therefore in my view if an actual individual (me for example) is restricted in how much I can donate to a PAC or a candidate then a corporation should be subject to that same restriction. After all ā€œcorporations are people too, my friendā€.

Hey Ted: the amendment would level the playing field. Whatā€™s wrong with equality? You got somthinā€™ aginā€™ equality?

Hmm, letā€™s see ā€¦ itā€™s a day that ends with the letter ā€œYā€ - yep, youā€™re right, heā€™s lying.
