He gave a concession speech last nght, which apparently included an f-bomb on live TV.
Yeah, I was excited the first time I saw a Beto ad on Colbert (pretty much the only commercial TV I watch, so I donât see many ads). It was the same one every time, the one where heâs speaking a little too fast and his hands are waving in the periphery. After a while I was annoyed that they never changed it. And then the Cruz ads started showing up too.
It seems like it wouldnât have been a difficult target to go negative on Cruz even without getting personal about it. But I do wish theyâd had something that wasnât just him telling us over and over about how he visited every county. After a while, it came across as gimmicky. like, isnât there something else you can highlight here?
Iâm sounding negative, which is unfair, because I thought he ran a brilliant campaign, if not a perfect one. The groundwork that race laid is all good, good news for the Democrats even if he didnât win this one.
Sadly, especially in Texas, I believe the optics are such that people donât believe that you really want to win unless you âfightâ for it â and to fight means to run negative ads.
