Damn, damn, damn.
My gratitude to Beto for going down after fighting hard.

This guy I such a sniveling little shit, sucks that he won.

I said, six months ago when the gap was much, much greater, that even if Beto “loses,” he wins.

Because he’ll come back again in two years, and his ground-game & organizers will not go away. And he’s advanced the inevitable flipping of TX from red to blue by at least a generation.

Long haul, y’all. Dunkerque to D-Day was four years. Trump Reich has been just less than two.

This makes me sick. Beto is the only candidate I’ve seen in years that could quote a serious history book off the top of his head. Also the closest in temperament and inspiration to Robert Kennedy. A bitter pill.

Only 80 percent in.

I knew Beto wasn’t going to win now. TX is still deep Red. Until it’s not.

Give it another one or two election cycles and I think we’ll see a Senator O’Rourke.

I was always sure Granpa Munster was going to win but Beto forced the GOPeers to expend resources they would have otherwise used in other races. So, good work Beto. Be back in 2020,

Beto was a perfect storm and still failed.

O’Rourke’s campaign captured the hearts and the imaginations of liberals nationwide, helping him raise a stunning $70 million for the race

Cruz came into the election with some major vulnerabilities.

And yet

O’Rourke struggled to get Hispanic voters to turn out for him

Hispanic voters don’t care about all the concentration camps for Hispanic kids? Or the way Trumpers talk about the migrant caravan as an invading force of diseased rapists?

Nothing in this world would have made me happier than seeing that smirk wiped from the face of Cruz the Crypt Keeper, but if nothing else he got the shit scared out of him. It’s sad that anyone in Texas would vote for such a vile slimeball, but at least it was way closer than anyone thought it would be.

As a Texan, I’m so proud of the race that Beto ran. I feel my money was well-spent. He’ll be back - perhaps on the national stage.

The good news here - Pete Sessions is gone.

All y’all optimistic about the future people are getting on my nerves. I’m tired of “oh but demographics” and “oh but he did better than expected” and “oh but 2020 is better.”

Call me Veruca Salt, but

It’s called pulling up the ladder.

It’s an American tradition.

And still everyone hates Cruz

If this is true already, then the map thingy TPM is using is caca doody and not at all keeping up in real time, which is proving frustrating.

John Boehner on Ted Cruz: “Lucifer in the flesh…I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch.”

(Peter King, in reaction: “Boehner gives Lucifer a bad name by comparing him to Ted Cruz.”)

In heavily immigrant communities, GOP voter suppression works incredibly well and there is a real education issue as well. We have to find better ways to not just reach but also motivate those communities. If they are proving problematic in terms of turnout because of learned helplessness, it is going to be a real and long-term issue.

Breaks my heart.

But the Texas map changed - the entire Big Bend to El Paso is blue.

and Colin Allred beat Pete Sessions. That was epic.
