Ted can school all of us on how the republicans can have full control the preesidency and both houses of congress and it is the democrats who are going to shut down the government. This should be convincing.

One of the Castros is running against him and another Democrat out of El Paso, Beto O’Rourke. Castro has the name recognition and I suspect he’ll get the Democratic Party’s backing.

As i have said - Trump’s numbers are going down for the third time in Texas - he’s drowning. And he’s taking Ted, who is polling behind Castro.

I read somewhere last week that one of the polls had run a Castro brother against Cruz as a hypothetical, and that he had done very well. I didn’t know that he had declared as a candidate.

Cool. I’m sure there are lots of republican senators who would be secretly (and maybe not so secretly) cheering for Ted to lose.

I know that O’Rourke has filed. I really think almost anyone could beat him now. It’s not like Ted gets love here he doesn’t get elsewhere.

LGB was right about how he squeaked into office the first time - nobody knew who he was then. Now they do.

How does the minority party force a shutdown on a spending bill? This is obviously nuts, and obviously bad politics. What it tells me is that Republicans have no idea what to do with their (probably short-lived) majority, and can only go on repeating tropes and tunes from the old days, when there was a reliable Democratic veto in the White House.

The GOP has the instincts and habits of thought of a minority party. Let’s hope that in 2018 we can give them what they so clearly want.

At some point the Rs are going to have to acknowledge that they have control of the executive, senate, and house. Blaming it on Dems just doesn’t fly anymore. You might have to learn how to govern, not just obstruct.
