This guy is a wait and see, puts his finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing, kind of weasel. So many of these spineless assholes taking up space in Congress on our dime…Its fucking disgusting.
Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) said that he would not go on a “fishing expedition” into Trump’s business dealings.
But if you’re in an official congressional boat and can see fish at the bottom of the lake, this is the time to whip out a rod and reel to see what you catch.
There are definitely people dumb enough to have voted for Trump who now all of a sudden see the horror show that rational people warned about all along, but didn’t before. But it bears repeating that our electorate, on a national scale, voted for Clinton. And at least some of these districts were thin margins for Trump. Trump is loathed by a majority that has always loathed him, but we’re stuck with him and these shitty tag-a-long representatives due to a broken electoral system. So I’d be a little hesitant in blaming the people who show up at these town hall meetings. Most of them have been on our side the whole time.
That’s precisely how the Commies work. Supremacy belongs to the Party. The State is merely a tool of the Party.
These guys have long been commie bastards. When’s the last time you ever heard of a Democrat needing to take some weirdo pledge about X or Y? (And no, DNC platforms are not pledges).
There’s a reason why Republicans like Putin: they are commies who recognize their own.
They are so immersed in their self-righteous, smug-ass bubble that they don’t even realize the level of hypocrisy they are exhibiting with comments like “You guys just want to investigate everybody.” No asshole, we are really only interested in investigating criminals. How bout that concept?
“Public servant” has never been so bastardized as it is with this administration and it’s minions.
Seems like potential primary opponents should be invited to some town halls. As it is, Republican congressmen in “safe” districts have little to fear from criticism from the left.
They only think so publicly. The GOP has admitted that they are afraid of losing dark red Collin County here. They do have to fear losing their jobs even with gerrymandering.
You may be an old curmudgeon, but you are a wise old curmudgeon. It would certainly make these TPM articles more useful if each one included basic, but critical electoral facts about the Represenative and the District. For example, what was the Represenative’s winning numbers and margin in both 2016 and 2014. What was the turnout in both years, generally, and by party. How much would Democrats need to increase Democratic turnout to turn out the Represenative. And I’m sure there’s even more background information that would be useful.
A vital, grass-roots-oriented Democratic Party should hold Town Halls in districts like mine (KY4 where Dems outnumber Reps by 66K voters) where the Republican Congressman isn’t planning on holding meetings with citizen voters.
