Discussion: Court Rules Kansas School Budget 'Inadequate' Under Constitution

I like that Jesus is so white. It makes the dinosaur baby stand out more.

…and then when they FINALLY elect a Democrat, it will be all his fault! TAXES!!! NO!!!

As noted elsewhere, OWS etc. should revise the Fawkes masks over to Jack Kemp masks.

You ain’t seen nuthin’ yet…just wait until the price of gas follows the price of oil. They won’t even be able to keep the highway patrol on the job. And Texas’ll be right behind…

Taxes on gasoline and diesel are a set unit per gallon, not a percentage of sale. Therefor revenue could increase rather than decrease, if more fuel is sold as a result of its being cheap.

So a republican state is failing and the whole world is watching. The failed governor has been re-elected to continue his failed policies. Thank God for the federal government who stepped in to save the schools. Don’t forget folks, it was under Obama’s watch that the government began the steps to save the republican governors failed policies to save the children of Arkansas.
Thank you Mr Obama.

Good book: What’s the Matter with Kansas.

Just another standard GOP sociopath.

Ah yes. Blondy Kansas. Where everyone with any sense can observe a micro-model of what the rest of the Grumpy Old Party is going to try to do to the rest of America starting the first week of January.
Imagine Perfect GOP “Government.” Fifty Kansases, each and every State raising undereducated, under informed kids who don’t get enough to eat if they are poor and will grow up to be developmentally disabled, thereby costing future generations of Kansas and other States residents all the money which their “government” claims they do not have.
But just whisper “Privatization” along with statewide poverty and lack of essential services, and you’ll never see any GOP State “Government” try to get anything done so quickly in your entire life.
Make no mistake about it. I have sympathy for the kids, since they were never asked to choose any of this,
The people I’d like to pick up by the shirt tabs and shake until their eyeballs rattle are the Kansas voters who put a rubber stamp on all this nonsense not once but twice.
The people deserve everything they don’t get.
But to make the kids pay for it too just plain STINKS.

I know I’m praying a lot harder.
Perhaps Marilynne Robinson should go on a speaking tour of the fundamentalist hinderlands…show them there is a genuine alternative to cartoon theology. The profound insights from our species’ long search for meaning can surely be somehow made accessible to people looking for simple answers. Surely a genuinely profound spirituality can replace merely irrational appeals to fear and self-righteousness.

Thank you for reminding those of us who believe the fall of the sparrow is noted: perhaps the fall of the dinosaur was grieved as well. Just as we hope we are not alone when we grieve the massive species extinction occurring today.
Yeah, I know. Preposterous idea.
Still, perhaps it would be more effective to aim our stones at the misuse of religion than at faith itself. It might just be more effective - reaching the very people we need to reach - to make our case against hypocrites and liars.

A great deal.
The first rule to effective warfare is to understand the enemy, understand how s/he thinks, and use that knowledge against him.

But before that, we need to understand who or what is the enemy. If we believe religion - or faith itself - is the enemy, we better have a nuanced picture of its reality. And we better have a clear understanding of the limitations of our own perspective. Rationalism is not an argument if we do not address its critics.

Every gross caricature aims arrows at shadows and accomplishes absolutely nothing. It’s a great release of our justifiable anger, but it’s not as useful as analysis and strategy, not as attractive as a good argument that appeals to our better natures, and not nearly as effective as the humor that illuminations reality with its parody. Outright mockery doesn’t work except with fellow mockers.

There. Right there.
The reasons and the solutions.
Thank you.

Teabagging means never having to say you’re sorry. Anything bad is always Obama’s fault.

The Governor is now pushing the election of judges in Kansas. This will give them the freedom to destroy the very concept of responsible leadership to the people who elected them to office. Such a move is the greatest threat to our democracy in the history of our Free State. Other state’s who elect their judges open the interpretation of law to the highest bidder where the judge wins election to appease the masses instead of upholding the law as it was written. Bad, illegal legislation will soon be exempt from proper legal scrutiny. What’s the matter with Kansas? Republicans!
