You’re right that there’s no privilege for “highly personal” materials, but the Cohen team is likely requesting special treatment for them and seeking a protective order that would prevent their public disclosure and require that, if used, they must be kept under seal.
I clearly remember the fuss about two email classification headers of Clinton’s emails that conservatives carried on about for weeks. In retrospect those emails are miniaturized dwarves next to Trump giving classified information in the Oval Office. Now he has “personal” claims during a criminal investigation ??? But her emails !!
