Hit 'em where it hurts.
If a Counselor in Tennessee exercised their state’s right to refuse care, I’d think they could be reported to the Organization, and could lose their membership.
Their license to practice, however, is probably a state matter.
I guess churches in Tennessee should also also decide who gets saved and who can just go to hell.
Seems fitting.
Ya know, it’s a strange dichotomy–The GOP’s myopic, ignorant, cowardly views of the GOP’s myopic, ignorant cowards, doesn’t surprise me. But, the very fact that this is happening in a 2016 United States of America gives me a sick feeling, in the pit of my stomach. So, it’s an “I can’t believe that I believe this”, sort of thing. I ask again–with all the enlightening resources at our disposal, how in the fuck is half of our species REGRESSING?!
This one gets pressed to death with heavy stones…for his (her) own good!
Thank you, Richard Yep and to the members of the ACA who supported this move and all of them who stand against this TN law and other similar proposed legislation.
Absolutely, I guess the chickens are…you know. Anyway, discriminatory acts and those blaming others for their own fear, anger and sadness when there is no rational connection whatsoever need a serious time out. Really is criminal when these distractions are perpetrated.
It was the ethical thing to do, and they did it. Good on them.
Good for them!
Very true. Losing their affiliation with the ACA and possibly other such organizations does not bode well for health insurance contracts. These organizations offer Continuing Education Credits throughout the year and many insurance plans require these credits to be “current” with medical treatment, knowledge about therapeutic treatment, prescription medication treatment, etc. To my knowledge, all states (even TN) require a number of these credits–and varying types of credits–for license renewal. Now, if TN wishes to step in and offer these courses and training, themselves, they are free to do so (or, worse yet, not require continuing education credits, heaven forbid, seriously), they are free to do so but it can get costly to do so. Even if they did that, it still does not address the very real possibility health insurance carriers will have issues with the new law, its implications, etc. TN just created themselves a pot full of shit.
So Tennessee, when the counselors canceled their conference, how did that make you feel?
Another good question often asked when a client goes ahead and does something they already know will have negative consequences:
“How’s that working out for you?”
I know, that Dr. Phil guy asks people that one. Pretty good challenge to maladaptive behavior, actually. I ask it of myself every now and then. : )
And once again the GOPer legacy of NO! is demonstrated. Logic and reason need not be considered.
ISIS/Mollahs: This is deeply troubling. Religious freedom to discriminate is the only positive aspect of American culture that we fully endorse.
Tennessee bureaucrats.
Not scientists, but they sure know a thing or two about how to conduct therapy.
