Discussion: Coulter Flip-Flops On Birtherism: Cruz Not ‘Natural Born Citizen’

  1. Child of U.S. Citizen Parent and Foreign National Parent [9]

A child born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions acquires citizenship at birth if at the time of birth:

•One parent is a foreign national and the other parent is a U.S. citizen; and

•The U.S. citizen parent was physically present in the United States for at least 5 years, including at least 2 years after 14 years of age.

So, how is it that a child born to U.S. citizens in the U.S., if I follow your interpretation, is less of a U.S. citizen than a child born in the U.S. to foreign citizens living in the U.S.?

My pet theory is that Trump promised a “future wife” slot to her.

Two thumbs up!

Ted Cruz is special…we can call him special Ted. He talked to God and God told him to run for President.

Not trying to defend Cruz because he is as big a dick as Coulter but " a natural born citizen" is a child born of a citizen parent even if born in Bum Fuck. Egypt! Natural born means you don’t have to go through the citizen procedure for 3-5 years! I don’t know how long but these people cannot be President. Even should they win a Presidential election. Some clowns wanted to change the Constitution so Schwarzenegger could run. Gag.

The article makes too much of the alleged conflict between Ms. Coulter’s views on President Obama’s eligibility and that of Sen. Cruz.
With the former, it was the facts that birthtards were disputing–arguing against all evidence that he wasn’t born in the US–and they hadn’t a leg to stand on.
With the latter, Cruz, nobody is disputing the facts. It is the law that is somewhat ambiguous.

She went ‘galumphing’ off like a lame horse…and, bless em’, the boys tried but missed by ~that much!~
(I’d loved to see her get it full on in the face with a pie…with a brick under the meringue.)

BTW: I don’t think Coulter is a natural born human:
And the roots of her being our country’s #1 BitterBitchTroll started early:

Well, I’m not sure whether Cruz is “natural born citizen” but he most definitely is unnatural.

An unnatural Shoebat, at that.

She is fearless. Love it.

Trump is also saying now that Cruz applied for a Canadian passport when he was an adult…maybe had it renewed? Isn’t that saying you consider yourself a Canadian first and an American second? This sounds so shady that I’m figuring that’s exactly what that slime Cruz did.

Isn’t this the sort of thing that the Founders were afraid would happen if a president was not a natural born citizen? What other shady things would Cruz do if he thinks he can get by with them?

It’s an issue because republicans made it an issue when they went after Obama. If the GOP nomination was open to all of America then the few crazies who believe this type of stuff wouldn’t matter much. Unfortunately for Cruz the nomination is inside the GOP crazy tent only, and his base is made up people who believe this type of argument.

It also doesn’t help that the Supreme court has never ruled on this even though most expect they would side with Cruz. This could be turned into an electability argument. Trump could say that Hillary could sidetrack a Cruz campaign by constantly forcing him to answer questions about his citizenship.

Chupacabra! Brilliant!

Nicely done Sherlock! That is indeed the incident I had in mind. Those young folk did indeed get themselves into some hot water over that.

It was inevitable – Aryan bigots within the GOP have begun to feed on their own.

The law says one parent (parents must be married) must be a US citizen. That parent must have been a resident of the US for 10 years prior to the birth of the child in question. Five of those years must be after the age of 14. So, it depends on when and where Cruz’s mom lived and when doesn’t it? If Cruz’s mom moved to Canada at age 20 after having lived here until then and marries Ted’s dad then Ted’s a legal “Natural born” citizen. Here is everything you’d ever want to know about who is and who is not a “natural born citizen”" Look at the dates of law around 1962.

Everything I could find, outside of conspiracy theories, says Ted’s mom spent her formative years in the US and moved with Ted’s dad to Canada after college. Therefore the present understanding of “natural born” law as outlines above should be fulfilled …unfortunately since I don’t want Ted to be POTUS.

Per the Birthers’ own rules, Ted Cruz is ineligible for President. In fact, the birthers had to lie about Obama’s birthplace, just so they could place him in the position Ted Cruz openly admits.

Even worse is the fact that until maybe a year ago, Ted Cruz was also a Canadian citizen.

Since Obama’s mother Ann was born in Kansas and didn’t live in Hawaii until much later, the fact she was living in Hawaii when she had her son was immaterial. If that was an birthed argument, they were even more clueless. Which was quite possible.
