Discussion: Cosby's Wife Compares Rape Accusations Against Him To Rolling Stone Story

Discussion for article #231226

If there were 20 women claiming they’d been raped at a given frat house over the course of a decade, that would be more like the Cosby accusations.

I guess some people prefer to live in denial so they can cope. I feel sorry for her

“Bill Cosby’s wife on Monday defended her husband from the mounting sexual assault allegations”

You might want to consider rewording this.

SIGH There are now nearly 30 women telling the same story. She should have either responded MUCH earlier or just stayed silent.

My question is why hasn’t Masher, uh I mean Bill Cosby come right out and denied it ?

Stockholm syndrome, anyone?

I do feel sorry for her, though. This can’t be easy on her, and she can’t have gone without any doubts.

And now every woman who believes that Mrs. Cosby knew will have a reason to come forward. There will be some who kept silent because they didn’t want to hurt her, but now she’s basically called them liars and tools of the media.

And there are indeed multiple women who have been raped at the frat house in question—Jackie wasn’t the only one who said she’d been raped there.

Just how do we know anything? 20 women? would you say the same if they were 20 tea party women?
And 'the same story" ?Can that be because its scattered all over the media and some one can just come up with the same accusation?
My point is that people are letting the media be judge and jury. And whats worse is that most of the media out there are associated with Rupurt Murdochs money.

I was thinking the same thing, looking at that picture of her helpless in her laughter. Sometimes being tickled hurts so bad but one is helpless to stop it. Takes all kinds, but I don’t really want to know about their relationship. I also didn’t want to know about Mrs. Sandusky not hearing the boys cries through the flooring. in total denial, total denial.

how absurd one looks in denial. that should be reason enough to avoid the condition.

I don’t think people are “letting the media be judge and jury.” The media is reporting the news, and who can deny this was big news? If 20+ women say Bill Cosby did this or that, it’s not the media’s job to protect an American icon by refusing to air the complaints. It’s not the fault of the media that so many women have come forward with basically the same allegations regarding this story. People are making up their own minds just like people make up their own minds about others they decide to trust or not, let into their lives or not. There are lots and lots of serially bad people out there who have never been convicted of a crime.

This is the consequence of your actions, Rolling Stone. Now every rapist will site your article in his own defense. Now every story of rape will be subject to unwarranted skepticism. Thanks.

That’s right Mrs. Cosby, keep your head in the sand. All of these women are lying, right?

So sad.

So, just like UVA? So, one woman might have not remembered everything, told different versions of what exactly happened, may even have embellished. The other three seem to be spot on and no one is questioning them.

Might want another analogy.

In the cases of all the women coming forward, if one isn’t 100% spot on it does not invalidate the others.

His $millions will buy a lot of denial.

no, because these stories came out years ago and there were court cases and settlements out of court, etc.

Exactly. Too often, people accusing the media of bias are really just demanding that the media hide any story they don’t agree with. They say they want the truth, but they really just want propaganda. But if the only reason you’re dismissing a story is because it’s unpleasant to you…you’re doing it wrong.

Many in the media were quick to link that story to stories about my husband — until that story unwound.

Huh? When did that happen?
