The key words in Cornyn’s statement are “in some form.” We’ll see the summary “in some form” just like we saw a summary of Trump’s taxes “in some form” and we saw a summary of Kavanaugh’s activities in the summer of 1982 “in some form.” (the memorable calendar). And I have just as much faith in the truth and scope of what the GOP might release as I did every other time - none.
Well we might have to wait to see it on the indictment charges.
A 100% redacted summary, in true GOP transparency…
This isn’t a “background check”. That was completed long ago. Apparently insufficiently. It’s an FBI investigation into the veracity of allegations made against Kav. The fact that Cornyn is offering it up for public view tells me he fix is in.
No redactions necessary if you just pack the findings with bullshit. I doubt the FBI is going to come trough on this.
Cornyn knows how dirty Kavanaugh is, and wants him to withdraw. He’s hoping the FBI will do the job for him, so he can run away from the consequences.
Coward.
Summary: Kavanaugh IS AWESOME!!! Also, libtards OBSTRUCTION.
Cornyn Suggests Public Might See ‘Summary’ Of FBI Followup On Kavanaugh
Then again, we might not. And Cornyn might spontaneously deliquesce into a steaming pool of protoplasm, on the Senate floor, in mid speech.
BK on SCOTUS in a bums rush=political gold for Dems.
Please proceed turtleboy…
Appendix: No collusion, you’re the collusion…
Has Cornyn already booked the unicorn that will be delivering the “summary”?
By “might”, Cornhole means, in the event that the FBI’s findings are favorable to Kavanaugh.
Cornyn said, adding that the “usual process” had been turned “on its head.”
Would that be when the Republican senators tried to hamstring the presentation of the sexual assault allegations, or when the Republican senators sat on the Merrick Garland nomination for a full year?
I assume that means Chuck Grassley, the ‘Devin Nunes of the Senate’, will be the one to edit and release the summary.
i think it’s safe to say this is gonna make it to the public one way another.
Brett already tried that trick. And came pretty close to pulling it off, if I say so myself.
Such a waste(ed asshole)
I wish the text in bold was correct, and it’s a reasonable assumption given we’re talking about the FBI here and investigation is literally in their name, but it’s not quite the case. From what I understand based on interviews with former FBI agents like Asha Rangappa, this will be a straight up documentation of what information they obtain, with no judgements at all on the veracity of what they obtain. So it really is a background check – think of it as a supplement to the previous background check. It’s exactly like how a reference-checking service in business tells you “this person’s former boss said such-and-such”, but does not tell you what to do with that info, i.e. whether to hire them or not, and doesn’t seek documentary evidence of what the former boss said.
Now the good news is that it’s still illegal to lie to the FBI – so maybe, just maybe, that will have some impact on the people who are pretty clearly running bro-cover for Kavanaugh. However even if the FBI does exactly what they’re supposed to, without interference from the White House etc., it’s still fairly likely we’ll end up with differing accounts of the same events and senators will be asked to make up their own minds.
Basically it’s not a cold-case investigation – that’s too bad, because that’s probably what’s needed in a case like this.
