Discussion: Corker: Trump Was Ready To Move Israeli Embassy To Jerusalem Day One

This is about as close to “This man is dangerous” as we’ve gotten so far.

Seems the chair of the Foreign Relations Committee is reaching out for help here.

I like Happy Talk song. Captain Sensible version. Can I be South Pacific ambassador?

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

It’s easier to do something questionable now and ask forgiveness later. Then again, it’s the only way to go for someone who never apologizes.
The trumpkins wore tee shirts saying they wanted a president with balls. They got wrecking balls. Godzilla was more careful where he stepped.

I want to be Ambassador to Turkmenistan. First of all, I will live in the famed “City of Marble”, Ashgabat, and second, living in a Stalinist country will probably be pretty safe, once Trump announces the alliance with Putin.

… but then day 2 came along and holy shit.

To be fair, I’m sure that sticking our thumb in the eye of the Arab world, all for the sake of making a symbolic gesture, would make us much, much, much safer (too many muches?). It would certainly show those ISIS guys that there’s a new sheriff in town, and that they’d better vamoose.

Day two was was consumed by more important things like hounding the National Park service for pictures that made his Inauguration crowd look bigger

Sure, but read further in the interview and you see that Corker is still hopeful that reasonable people will somehow be able to quietly influence Trump. It’s hard to tell whether that’s polite and temporary cover or he really thinks that’s possible. Trump reaffirming the one China policy likely has given realists some misplaced hope. Idiots.

That was yet another illustration of the fact that Trump will tell you whatever you want to hear. Talking to Taiwan? “There are two Chinas.” Talking to Beijing? “We’re committed to the one-China policy.” On the campaign trail? “NATO is a crappy deal for us, so we’re going to pressure the other countries to pay up.” Talking to the British PM? “We’re committed to a strong NATO.”

This is what makes Trump so dangerous. There’s simply no telling what, if anything, he actually believes in.

This is louder than Grassley’s tweets. So what is Corker’s motivation? Go public to prevent the move done in secret (sunlight/disinfectant and all)? And 2 senators speaking out, without some ‘forced error’ by Team Trump (that is not in response to a media/protest outrage) - interesting. Planned? Or does Mitch have a mini rebellion of Senators with cold feet?

Too late to get the toothpaste back into the tube, Bob. If you really loved this country, you would be considerably more forceful in expressing your concern over the unstable individual in the Oval Office. Until you are, spare us your wistful wishes.

While you’re at it, why don’t you wish for a magic pony? I also think it’s cute that Corker implies that the unhinged tweets are all in the past. Fasten your seatbelt, bunky.

There is a direct statistical correlation: As Trump’s approval numbers decline, disapproving statements by elected Republicans rise.

Three Pinocchios is practically truth telling in this administration. Terroristic? Stealing a GOET neologism.*

*Uh oh

In psychiatry, the term neologism is used to describe the use of words that have meaning only to the person who uses them, independent of their common meaning.[11] This tendency is considered normal in children, but in adults it can be a symptom of psychopathy[12] or a thought disorder (indicative of a psychotic mental illness, such as schizophrenia).[13] People with autism also may create neologisms.[14]

So, they want to start a war in the first 100 days? Moving the embassy will do it.

Shorter Corker: I am proud that I voted for Trump as POTUS. He is just like me.
