Discussion: Corker: My Relationship With Trump ‘Is Not Relevant’ To Me Doing My Job

And here is another:

Wuss! I guess it was to much to expect that a republican senator would have a backbone, he still needs to do nice to get that cushy job on K Street.

“…and that he doesn’t think the President is a role model for children.”

I guess he missed HRC’s campaign ad depicting this exact characterization.

You proved how you “get things done,” Budget Hawk Bob, when you voted to cut taxes on millionaires and billionaires while raising taxes two percent on the nation’s poorest and adding $1.5 trillion to the deficit.

As they say, “Actions speak louder than words.”
Now go fuck yourself, you phony, cowardly son-of-a-bitch.

Fun Fact: Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) is Number Ten of the 12 Wealthiest Senators, with an average net worth of $50,717,522. Probably just a coincidence that he would vote to lower his taxes.

This frustrates the hell out of me. I keep reading that Dems should be grateful that he’s saying anything at all and not expect full conversion blah blah blah.

But saying that someone is an unstable lunatic who can’t be trusted with nuclear weapons is not a “relationship” issue. If you mean what you say, then categorizing that as just a twitter beef is fundamentally wrong. Either you do more to oppose him or you’re just floating trial balloons to see if anyone would finance you in a primary run against him.

I get that there’s a subtle slam here. Corker’s calling him irrelevant, saying he’s not the one making policy, but I don’t think that changes my overall assessment.

It seems to me that when we look at this situation there are two distinctly different Corker’s. The first is very politally conservative Corker. One should expect him to vote “conservatively” on most issues, particularily finance issues. This Corker should be opposed at all times.

The second Corker is a principled person that can not tolerate the childish behavior of Trump and honestly fears what Trump might do. This Corker should be supported.

It seems we sometimes are unwilling to separate the good from the bad and paint a person’s actions/philosophy with the same brush. I know I do not want to be treated that way and I in turn should not treat others like that.

You’re right except in a pragmatic ethical system it is only consequences that matter: Tax cuts for the wealthy and other Republican sins against the body politic will pass because of Corker but there is no sign thus far that any action or statement by him has caused Trump inconvenience much less led to any change.

There are multiple Corkers as there are multiple us’s but that is irrelevant to the social situation which is what a political debate tries to address. From that perspective Corker is virtually indistinguishable from the worst of his Republican colleagues.

We all agree Bob…marginalize the Buffoon. It’s better for all of us.

Also, why are some Democrats falling all over themselves praising Bob Corker and Jeff Flake for stating the obvious? What next? Praising Ted Cruz for announcing on the Senate floor the sun rises in the east? The only difference between Corker and Flake and Trump is that the former believe in a Republican’t Party that smiles while they choke the life out of you while the latter believes it should snarl…
