This is what happens when a person channels their inner George Zimmerman while drunk.
Somehow I can find a strange poetry in the sheer transcendent idiocy of doing this as a prank while you are, yourself, plastered. If I were the judge I’d want to know if he were just a jerk or if he were some kind of divinely inspired class clown type who mostly needed a serious yelling at and about a million years of probation and counseling.

We applaud the entrepreneurial spirit of this young man, who has shown that one drunk teenage volunteer can save thousands of taxpayer dollars by privatizing the function of highway safety. While we reject the notion that the government can decide how much impairment you are allowed behind the wheel, we believe that private checkpoints are a good model for citizens to express their own preferences regarding driver behavior and skin tones.

I agree with your sentiments, but I do think it’s kind of dangerous and wrong for civilians to stop traffic under false pretenses, and there are really bad people, rapists and such, who imitate police, so that’s not so cool. How about community service helping accident victims, driving them to the store and stuff? As long as he’s a generally OK kid otherwise. I don’t think this is a jail thing, certainly.
Can ya imagine the conversation when he wakes up the next morning and Bubba asks him what he’s in for ?
