Discussion for article #241685
Perhaps the policy should be reviewed then…
Well of course he deserved it, because niCLANGs.
Yes, we’d all better be faster following police commands. Especially those who started way behind with that brown skin.
If fact, why don’t we all just lay down in front of them?
Miller and the officer ordering the use of the Taser are both black.
Well, then…that makes it all OK.
Well, I guess we should all prostrate ourselves to our obvious moral leaders, the police, then.
We REALLY need to do something about the agressive mentality of our cops. There seems to be a pervasive arrogance they have that, instead of being public servants, they are some higher lord who requires subservience from all around them.
Too slow to “follow orders”? Tase/shoot as needed.
Mouth off to cops? Tase/shoot…
Conservatives love to say how concerned they are about government stifling liberty, but why are they always so silent about things like this? Originally, tasers were supposed to bridge the gap between no force and deadly force, as a way to avoid killing violent but unarmed suspects. Clearly, the new “guidelines” have been changed to allow for tasing people who merely disrespect officers. Tasers are being used as extrajudicial punishment instead of for the self-defense of police.
Perhaps this councilman should have heeded the advice of Carson, and not done like the Jews in Nazi Germany, and instead, used his guns to shoot back at his oppressors.
Or perhaps somebody in the media will actually raise that question to Carson.
Well, its at least funny to think about the question being raised, and Carson’s floundering attempts at an answer.
When African Americans in Texas start walking around heavily armed like their white counterparts, then we will see some real reforms, real fast. On gun control at least. They will still taze, beat, pepper spray and shoot African americans at will, but at least we will have gun control.
I am hardening in my belief that racism will be with us for a very long time, we need a wholesale overhaul of laws to take away the “tools” law enforcement routinely uses to harass otherwise peaceful, law-abiding citizens.
Texans better get used to the human cattle prod. I wonder if the electrical shock from tasers is stronger than that of cattle prods on cattle… Beef is valuable, you know.
Good God I hope I never find myself in Texas. Once was enough thank you.
Sadly, this has been going on for a long, long time. The only difference now is that everybody has the capability of capturing it on video.
I’ve always wondered about that, too. After all, the police are the pointed end of the oppression stick, so those fretting about government overreach should be particularly concerned. But, apparently, as long as it’s black people and other minorities, meh.
Cops can say what they like but this speaks volumes. And it interesting that in this case the camera got “knocked” off before they zapped him
