Discussion: Convicted Anti-Muslim Plotter Wants Leniency Because Of Trump Rhetoric

This appeal fails for two reasons. The first one that is sort of silly is that drumpf and his mouthpiece claim that he never did anything to encourage bigotry against anybody. The actual fail is that the excuses for his actions given in the appeal to the judge indicate that he should never be allowed into society because they as much as said that he will do it again.

I’m pretty staunchly anti death penalty, but I’d be willing to consider it for anyone who uses “lit” in that context in a legal filing.

Ummmm…so Trump’s rhetoric is cool for a ‘get-out-jail-free’ card but not when it influences jew killers. Got it. This will be quilt a dilemma for FOX ‘news’…

“A person normally at a 3 on a scale of political talk might have found themselves at a 7 during the election. A person, like Patrick, who would often be at a 7 during a normal day, might ‘go to 11.’ See SPINAL TAP.”

I think this guy is going to find himself at about a 25 to life on this.

If my attorney was trying to use This Is Spinal Tap as a legal defense, I’d be looking for a new attorney…HARD.

Is it just me or does anybody else notice how American White Supremacist-types always appear as mental midgets and losers in the rough-and-tumble world they want to preserve from change (i.e., The Other’s Evil Agenda)? They travel in homophilic man-packs to reinforce their worst impulses in behavior, haircuts, and dress code. We wait for them to show superiority in some manner of ideas, speech, or decorum, but none ever shows up. Steve King, too.

After Dan White’s lawyer used the Twinkie defense in the murders of Mayor Moscone and Harvey Milk anything goes.

Of course he does.

People in hell want ice water too.

Leniency? Hang them all high. Terrorists attempting to murder American citizens should be in prison for life at a minimum. In fact I think this kind of thing - a racist murder plot and terrorism ought to be a capital crime.

So… the way this works is that anyone who is inspired by Trump is not responsible for their actions.

And Trump is not responsible for their actions.

I see.

ETA:

“The court cannot ignore the circumstances of one of the most rhetorically mold-breaking, violent, awful, hateful and contentious presidential elections in modern history, driven in large measure by the rhetorical China shop bull who is now our president.”

Making this argument at this particular time as we head into the midterms with the hate inspired rhetoric gearing up kind of blows the argument that 2016 was an isolated incident.

Poor Donnie. Caught in a causation loop. When something happens for which he wants credit, he’s the cause; when it’s something for which he does not want to accept blame, he had nothing to do with it. Except that the people who acted say he did.

That said, sorry buddy. Nobody forced you to watch Trump and Fox or read InfoWars or listen to Rush. You were a racist, nationalist, Islamiphobe before you became a Trumper. He just fed your hate.

So basically he’s arguing that trump is an undicted co-conspirator.

I’d agree that this is really a good reason for as long a sentence as the law allows

Explain it to me like I am a 10 year old …
you are trying to say that you should not be responsible for your own actions because Donald Trump said things that got you all worked up?

Also - Still trying to understand -
… is this a remorseful plea - claiming that individual is now rejecting the bad behavior and the bigotry and is claiming that they never would have gone down that evil path if it had not been for the ugly hate filled coaxing and exhortations of satanic Donald Trump

… or are they essentially trying to pass it off as “just following orders”

Either way … it is a non-starter

Wah! Wah! trump made me do it!

So, aside from being the first ever court filing to blame the defendant’s actions on the president, I assume it’s also the first ever to quote and then cite, fer chrissakes, Spinal Tap? Ha!

Nah trump will say he never said it and it call it fake news when someone replays the tape

The attorneys argue that Stein, who had a lifelong struggle with substance abuse and two failed marriages, was particularly vulnerable to this sort of rhetoric.

Sucks to be you, doofus.
