Excellent writing this morning Ms. Ollstein. Thank you for working on the weekends. Where there once was a void here at TPM even as trumps crimes continued now there is none.

Is that snark? Because of course it is important information that diminishes the credibility of trump even further as the admin and right wing media attempt to make Comey the dishonest player.

And Mel’s immigration papers?

Not to mention that they released this information late on a Friday, the usual tactic for minimizing the news cycle regarding any release.

You’d think by now all the major news agencies would have staffers camped out watching for and reporting on the Friday Late Night Releases so common in our era…

Why not flag those and raise them as issues on the Sunday morning talk show circuit? As a matter of course? That I would love to see.

Fortunately, we have TPM to do that for us in some instances. But I’ld like it to see it become a much more widespread practice.

For some reason in my copy of your post, the first letters don’t spell IMPEACH. Otherwise, it’s a great list.

Donald said it,I don’t believe it, that settles it.

[/quote]I’m with you on that. Unfortunately the end result of the massive amounts of lies that have been released and eventually normalized through sheer volume, is that no one will be able to honestly believe anything delivered from the lips of any politician or government official every again. In an odd way, truth and lies are being totally equalized and made indistinguishable.

The only folks still believing anything from Trump are the core group who not only can’t tell a truth from a lie, they don’t really care. As long as Trump is encouraging of their resentments and their bigotry, It’s A-OK whatever he says.

Nor that someone other than Trump was being surveilled.

DOJ Admits There Is No Evidence Of Trump Tower Wiretaps

Trump: People underestimate that Obama has great influence on my AG, Sessions. Who knows what both of these traitors will cook up against me. I only trust The Putin.

This Motion for Summary Judgment w/supporting memo of pts and authorities laid out all of Trump’s twitter accusations of Obama on wiretapping and provided this response/admission:

Both FBI and NSD confirm that they have no records related to wiretaps as described by the March 4, 2017 tweets. Hardy Decl. ¶ 15; Weinsheimer Decl. ¶ 8. FBI again confirmed that
Case 1:17-cv-00718-RCL Document 12 Filed 09/01/17
they do not have any such records by consulting with personnel knowledgeable about Director Comey’s statements and the surveillance activities of the FBI. Hardy Decl. ¶ 15

Pretty stunning if you think about it. The DOJ flatly stated they have no evidence to support their boss’ Twitter rant.

This can also be used as evidence to show Trump’s corrupt intent to obstruct the overall inquiry. This story was a strategy executed by Trump and people like Cohen-Watkins with the support of Nunes to obstruct the House inquiry. It will also factor into Obstruction of Justice. The thing to remember about Trump’s twitter rants is that he has often attempted to operationalize those falsehoods into action and policy.

Jeff Sessions tacitly allowed the Acting Assistant AG to make these statements. I think this is significant news. The amount of evidence showing that Trump had a broad based strategy to obstruct and kill the Russia inquiry from the day he entered office is huuuuge. He needs to be indicted in order to validate the enforceability of the law and the principle that no one is above the law. Even if Trumpers and their associates are acquitted, I think Mueller is duty bound to go through the process of prosecuting this crew to show people that the rule of law means something,

I was equally enthralled by the DOJ quote. What a letdown to see the source.
But kudos to AO. Keep hammering at him.

So, how about a personal apology from Donald Trump to Barack Obama? Improbable, yes, but warranted. He did, after all, knowingly falsely accuse the (good) President of a felony.

Wondering how much was spent to ā€œinvestigateā€ this fiasco??? Another lie and temper tantrum. Isn’t this slander? Isn’t this punishable???

So when does he apologize for calling Obama ā€œworse than Nixon?ā€
