Lowry, you stupid f**k; it’s NOT your stuff!
Is it wrong that I am smiling?
We’ll be glad to accept their votes. They don’t even have to tell anyone that they voted for Democrats. (That’s the whole thing about a secret ballot!)
As TPM noted, yesterday, Sen. McCaskill predicts that most of her Republican Senate colleagues will secretly vote for Hillary.
It’s a trend!
American exceptionalism and greatness, shining city on hill, founding documents, etc–they’re trying to take all our stuff
We’re not taking it - you gave it away to a fascist clown.
Well, that’s just dandy. It’s almost August of 2016 and a few of the more broad-minded righties are saying, “Hey, you know, this guy’s actually pretty good.” And all it took was for them to have a presidential candidate who’s a lunatic buffoon by way of contrast. Insightful people, these folks.
I’m not smiling.
I’m laughing my gay ass off!
Great speech. And we made it easy for him.

I disagree with the easy part. Obama is just that good whatever the situation.
“The truth will set you free”.It also allows you (RWers) to express and honest opinion as a few folks on the right seemed to have shown
Funny how the GOP lays the blame of the past failed GOP presidencies that left the country in worse shape then before they took office on trump and what the parties “become” or their “nominee”.
Im hopeful that people are beginning to realize that there lives WERE, ARE and WILL BE better with a democratic administration…
Well, you left your “stuff” out there and threw it in the street. Guess you didn’t want it anymore. DEMS scooped it up and will run with it all the way to the White House!
Trump set a pretty low bar with his speech. My basset hound baying at the moon makes more sense and annoys fewer people…
Since the GOP convention was Trump’s, they basically abandoned their usual rhetoric about America being great, and so loaded with potential because of who we fundamentally are, while Trump pained a picture of a dystopic hellhole he was somehow uniquely qualified to repair. Obama’s always used his own version of this, but since Republicans didn’t even TRY to make that case this year, he was happy to go ahead and use it on his own. He was using customized versions of Reagan’s best lines (even quoted him once).
I saw someone say last night they wished Obama had been this gracious to conservatives before Trump had been nominated… just shows these people have always lived in their own world. Obama started off doing this TO A FAULT but they never noticed because they were too busy yelling about the socialist Muslim Kenyan dictator.
That’s exactly right. Obama spoke no different about America in that speech than he has at any other convention - or in his inauguration addresses. He’s ALWAYS been optimistic and has ALWAYS spoke glowingly about the promise of America. They chose not to hear him before and only listen now because their nominee is a complete wastrel of a human being.
Oh…could this be healing? Huh. How long until heartless, broken media notices?
Barack Obama has always been a superior orator on the same level as Bill Clinton in his heyday.
Well, bless their hearts. They always heap praise on the outgoing/primary losing Democrat as a contrast to their renewed unhinged hatred of the new Democratic President. It is sweet that some seem to be grasping the untenable position they have put themselves in. No sympathy from me. They built this and they deserve to be buried in it’s ashes.
Why so stunned? They liked his 2004 speech so much that it was conservatives/Republican praise that put Obama into the national spotlight. Only a few years later, when they realized he was a political threat, did they turn on him.
I enjoyed the speech by the POTUS, but when you’ve been fed nothing but Trumpet crumbs for the better part of a year, a great speech by the respected leader of the free world is received like manna from above by comparison. Hey conservatives, you can vote for Clinton-Kaine…nobody will ever know!
President Obama is drinking the Republicans milkshake by speaking fundamental American truths, which are also the bedrock of liberalism and the Democratic Party. But the partisans on the Republican side in its current incarnation are very confused by this and can’t explain why they feel they agree with Obama yet feel they are being “stolen from”.
This is actually a telling moment that underscores the divisive nature of the propaganda and ideology of “conservatism” in that they seem genuinely confused that they feel that if someone else has love of our shared humanity, a vested interest in our social good, that to strive for us all working for the benefit and dignity of everyone, it must diminish, or be stealing from them.
Hopefully this was and is teachable moment and that they, and we all, learn from it.
