Very good writing. Up is down, black is white, you are wrong, I am right. That is the Republican legislative approach to working with others who are not Republicans.

This deal is already done.

The entire “vote of disapproval” of the deal by Congress is literally meaningless and has no bearing on the actual deal, which the UN Security council already approved along with all the parties to the deal.

The inspections will be carried out. Iran will have to degrade and hand over fissile-grade uranium, and the inspections regime will kick-in before any sanctions are lifted by the rest of the world. T

This will all go down regardless of what Congress (or more precisely what the feckless GOP in it) do or don’t do.

Well they do have to dumb down for most of their constituency.

The Congressional Republicans are left—once again—with egg on their faces because they tried with all their might to insert themselves into a process over which they had zero authority.

Their goal wasn’t to get a good deal with Iran, or even to derail what they saw, quite wrongly, as a bad deal.

Their goal was to embarrass and damage President Obama on the world stage----a goal they’ve had since November of 2008, and a goal they’ve failed utterly to achieve.

So now, the Republicans look like exactly what they are—petty, small-minded, vindictive, immature assholes who are incapable of governance.

As for me—I can’t stop smiling.

I want the deal to succeed because I do care about world peace, but truthfully I must say it is also a lot of fun watching Conservatives climb the walls.

The GOP has run out of red meat for its base. It is now serving up road kill.

Don’t let FACTS get in the way of a good Political Nut-Punch by the Republicans to prove what Manly-Men they are to the rubes.
This is ALL just Kabuki Theater for the mouth-breathers to try to show which Reich-Wing Ideologue is most-worth their Primary Vote.

And their base doesn’t know the difference.

Don’t forget bibi and AIPAC…two more added to the loser class.

All true, and yet republicans inexplicably want to string up a giant pinata with the words “Republican Foreign Policy” on Sept 11 and hand the administration a gigantic stick while saying, “Hyuck, you can’t hit that, so you don’t even have to use a blindfold.” Then after Obama smashes it to bits, they’ll wonder how it ever held so many republican tears.

That’s true. But I think the leaders also have convinced themselves there is no difference.

Cruz, Huckabee, Walker, Fiorina, Carson, Santorum and Trump are cynical fucks engaging in pure political theater. At the same time, they believe their own bullshit with the paradoxical earnestness of the best flim-flam artists.

Any one is surprised by this?!

Lest we forget . . . .

In an interview with Fortune Magazine’s Nina Easton, Dick Cheney conceded that as Halliburton CEO he opposed unilateral sanctions on Iran, even though he now strongly supports them. Cheney explained that as a private sector official, he didn’t have any responsibility to be concerned about the impact of his company’s dealings with Iran:
Q: You opposed unilateral sanctions on Iran when you were CEO of Halliburton.
THE VICE PRESIDENT: I did.
[…]
That’s a whole set of considerations that a CEO doesn’t have to worry about, that a private company doesn’t have to worry about. But the President of the United States does.
What Cheney conveniently neglects to mention is that Halliburton evaded U.S. law in order to deal with Iran. The International Emergency Economic Powers Act authorizes the president to block transactions and freeze assets to deal with rogue nations. In 1995, President Clinton signed an executive order barring U.S. investment in Iran’s energy sector. To evade U.S. law, Halliburton set up an offshore subsidiary that engaged in dealings with Iran.
In 1996, Cheney blasted the Clinton administration for being “sanction-happy as a government.” “The problem is that the good Lord didn’t see fit to always put oil and gas resources where there are democratic governments,” Cheney explained of his desire to do business with Iran.
ABC’s Sam Donaldson confronted Cheney about this in 2000, only to hear Cheney obfuscate about his dealings with Iran:
DONALDSON: I’m told, and correct me if I’m wrong, that Halliburton through subsidiary companies was actually trying to do business with Iraq.
CHENEY: No. No, I had a firm policy that we wouldn’t do anything in Iraq, even arrangements that were supposedly legal. What we do with respect to Iran and Libya is done through foreign subsidiaries totally in compliance with U.S. law.
DONALDSON: Make a way around U.S. law?
CHENEY: No, no, it’s provided for us specifically with respect to Iran and Libya. Iraq’s different, but we’ve not done any business in Iraq since the sanctions were imposed, and I had a standing policy that I wouldn’t do that.
Cheney’s evasion of U.S. law to deal with Iran has been well-documented. As the Bush administration now presses for tougher sanctions against Iran, Cheney should concede that Halliburton violated the spirit of the law and encourage other U.S. companies not to follow his lead.

They seem to forget who was President on September 11, 2001. There is videotape from that day which could be rolled to remind them.

Of course, they all would have urged Kennedy to launch missiles in order to stop the Soviet placement of ICBMs on Cuban soil. When it comes to nukes, negotiators just don’t have the testicles to sacrifice lives as a satisfying ritual in the pursuit of victory. Peace does not exist in the modern Republican playbook. Victory and vanquishing completely define the politics of the Democrats’ war-mongering opponents in Congress. Leaving wounds a plenty for future generations to recover from, that is just a price that the nation must pay to satisfy the vicious pride of con-men and charlatans.

At some point, don’t you have to get tired of looking into the gaping maws that are your followers, Donald? How many were in that crowd? It looked like there were more handlers and media than patriots/citizens. Sarah Palin looks worn out as in crazy, haggard, and jaded. King of the Morons…It’s HUUUUGE!
