Discussion for article #222561
I know that the melted brain conservatism of the TP is an evolutionary dead end for the GOP, but it sure sucks living through their death throes.
Dinsdale? Hell! I’m holding out for Spiny Norman.
Erick Erickson is clearly winning the award–for biggest douche in America!
It’s going to be a long, hard fight back to sanity for the Republican party, and they will probably fail.
I’m voting for the Piranha Brothers
Oh teatards, you were never more than a pack of useful idiots to the republican party.
Sid Dinsdale?
Wasn’t he the park ranger on The Bullwinkle & Rocky Show?
Dinsdale emerged as a force in the election when he was endorsed by the Omaha World Herald. I believe he is new to politics.
A little significant history on the World Herald-As long as I have been living in NE it has been a staunch Republican publication. Until, it was purchased by Berkshire Hathaway and now we see endorsements across political parties and as in the case of Dinsdale, for someone one would not expect.
So, is he actually a Koch or does he just look a fuck of a lot like one?
Meh, looking at Dinsdale’s League of Women voters interview he seems to be your typical establishment Republican, no immigration deal until boarders are “secured”, more free trade, whining about to much government regulation in his agribusiness and banking holdings, and a pot shot at Obama by implying the current privacy erosions only started six years ago because Bush and the Patriot Act apparently never happened. He really only seems moderate because Sasse and Osborn are nuts.
Sure, he’s still a Republican - but some Republicans can negotiate and at least get marginally effective things done. The important thing is he’s not a total lunatic. Its a step in the right direction, even if its a baby-step.
I agree he is very much a a Republican but not as bad as the 2 tea party clowns running. The Democrats have a strong candidate who is new to politics but it is an uphill battle in this red state.
That depends on how he would vote in the Senate and frankly I don’t see anything to make me think he would be willing to buck his party and work across the aisle on anything that matters. Honestly, given that no matter who the Republican candidate is he will just contribute to the on going obstructionism in the Senate, a part of me would rather one of the crazies get the nomination if only to increase the chance that their alienation of moderates might allow the Democratic nominee to pull something like with Atkins in '12. Of course the problem with that is it depends on there being more moderates in the state then crazies, which if one of the crazies is able to win the primary despite the crazy vote being split might not be a safe bet.
…and hoping they die off before it’s too late.
( And I’m 65 yet still feel this way)
Know who else was a “secret liberal”?
Everyone who signed the freakin’ CONSTITUTION!
