Discussion: Conservative Group Tries To Revive Barry Goldwater With 'Daisy 2'

Discussion for article #226669

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Heavy handed and crude. And using an issue that’s so far out in right field, it’s not even in the parking lot anymore.

A bit late to revive Barry. The poor guy’s been dead since 1998.

“Secure America Now” = AIPAC.

My understanding was that the original Daisy ad was never aired, that it was the progenitor for all the ads that generated more free coverage from the hand-wringers than could have been purchased. Anyone know if that was in fact the case?

As I recall, the original “Daisy” ad aired one time as a paid commercial. But it was short and to the point, and got shown on TV for free countless times.

As someone who is old enough to remember . . . it aired.

According to the About webpage of SECURE AMERICA NOW (a shoutin’ name), it is a 501©(4) “nonpartisan organization dedicated to bringing critical security issues to the forefront of the American debate. Get the facts. Share the truth. Take action.” Also, it “is dedicated to mobilizing millions of national security activists in support of policies that protect our nation against terrorist infiltration, attack, and capitulation to our enemies.”

Would you take seriously any organization that states it believes that there are millions of national security activists?

Its Projects page begins with the heading “13 Reasons to Impeach Obama” and goes on to state “President Obama is no longer fit to lead. Learn more about the top 13 reasons why Americans believe it is time to impeach Obama.” When you click Read More, the 13 reasons consist of a contact information submission form. All in all, it’s a thoughtful approach that might convince wavering Republican members of the House of Representatives to unite on this issue.

I’m not sure I believe that Iran is further from getting a nuke than it was before these negotiations started. What proof is there of that?

Also, should we even be negotiating with an admitted sponsor of terrorists to begin with?
