“But this is the same guy who signed a homophobic bill in the spring surrounded by homophobes,” Malloy told reporters, according to the Indianapolis Star. “So I’m not surprised by anything the governor does.”
Now that’s a proper “slam”. I LIKE this guy!
Good on Malloy for this. Do the right thing and call out these craven cowards for what they are.
Thank you Governor.
These people thrive on hysteria and anything anti-Obama, so being reasonable is probably not going to work with these folks.
He was one of the first people to follow me on twitter, oddly enough. I don’t even live in CT!!
You’re not making a very splendid figure as Governor Under the Indiana, are you, Michael, cousin of Dubya?
It’s a win/win for the refugees. Now they get to live in CT instead of IN.
Indiana, the land that time forgot…
In a strange paradox, were terrorists to actually decimate the state it would elevate the overall level of civilized society in the United States appreciably.
Why is it that politicians from the states LEAST likely to be the targets of attacks, and least affected by the heightened security of everyday life post 9-11 are the most fearful? Surely the “heartland,” the bastion of “family values,” the “real America,” has more courage than this. Watch how we do it in DC, NYC, Boston, etc…and take a lesson.
Pence wants to be sure the “distraction” of Syrian refugees doesn’t interfere with his marginalization and oppression of blacks, gays, the poor and the sick in Indiana. Why be a garden variety asshole when you could be a FOCUSED asshole?
Also, should a Republican win the Presidency there will be a cattle call for especially focused assholes to fill slots in that administration. Gotta prove your bona fides now.
The kids will get a much better education in Connecticut anyway so good all the way around.
Kids in Indiana don’t want to live life if it means living it in Indiana. Refugees are far better off elsewhere
Indiana has the highest rate in the country of teens who have considered suicide and the second-highest rate of those who attempted it, according to a report from the Indiana Youth Institute.
The Institute's "2015 Kids Count in Indiana data book," which was released Monday, pulled data from hundreds of national and state sources to analyze the state of Hoosier children and families. It tackled concerns such as a ***high rate of teen drug use***, a ***low student-to-school counselor ratio*** and the fact that ***22 percent of Indiana children live in poverty***.
But some of the most startling facts listed in the report revolved around teen suicide. According to 2011 data cited in the book, 19 percent of Hoosier students contemplated suicide in the past 12 months. About 11 percent of teens attempted it.
Alice Jordan-Miles, director of the Indiana Suicide Prevention Coalition, said Indiana has a lot of barriers to accessible and affordable care for youth who need mental health services. Many ***families are struggling financially or don't have insurance***, she said.

When do we get to piss on his food?
And they’ve got all those guns and all that ammo too!
“But this is the same guy who signed a homophobic bill in the spring surrounded by homophobes,”
Jesus fuck…take a note all you mealy-mouthed pussy Dems/liberals and your perpetual brainfart over being nice and appearing “collegial”: THIS is how it’s done. MORE PLEASE. NOW.
And Pence refers to himself as a Christian…the Syrian family had been vetted thoroughly and had waited over three years to be placed by a Christian agency. Please don’t let us hear Pence rattle on about morality and religion. At best he is a hypocrite.
“It is the right thing, the humane thing to do,” Malloy told reporters about his willingness to accept the refugees in his state, according to the Indianapolis Star. “Quite frankly, if you believe in God, it’s the morally correct thing to do.”
apparently, in indiana, doing the Christ-like thing of welcoming the homeless refugee is superseded by baseless fear-wronging. shame on the hosers. and BTW, mike spence sucks. toss his sorry ass out
“Quite frankly, if you believe in God, it’s the morally correct thing to do.”
It is the morally correct thing to do. Belief in God is irrelevant to morality.
