Little-known fact: lawmakers who settle sexual harassment cases don’t spend their own money. There’s a special US Treasury fund set up for that.
It’s about time. they GOP isn’t nearly good enough at sexual harassment yet.
This training should help them grasp true groper status, like the Groper-In-Chief.
How sad is it when we’ve so given in to political correctness that even powerful men have lost touch with their ability to threaten, intimidate and dominate others? #MAGA
Make Americans Grope Again
(To be clear: That is just snark… I think men who can’t keep their hands to themselves should probably just be made into “its” instead of being permitted to continue to be men.)
I think we’ve been down these roads before and I think only one kind of sexual harassment training works - they harass someone they get arrested and outed and publicly shamed. THAT works.
+1
Men – and it is pretty much always a male doing this – in positions of power who abuse that power to harass, coerce, and worse, are not doing it because they don’t know that it’s wrong.
They’re doing it because they don’t expect to be held accountable.
Until this culture of impunity is broken into tiny little shards and fed into a lava pit, all the training in the world isn’t going to change things.
Except, maybe, for removing a possible line of defense.
I don’t mean to be snarky, love, but I started practicing law in 1981. In Texas. Before that I worked various jobs starting around age 19. Note I’m female. You don’t need to mansplain this to me. I was harassed on every job I ever had.
But it should be obvious that that is what worked with Weinstein - the women finally went public, nobody could hide from it anymore and his entire career is over forever. That’s why that works - because my dear in the past nobody let the women talk and if they did nobody believed it or if they did there were bad repercussions.
Sorry it came across that way, but it’s not you I need to any-kind-of-splain this to. It’s the folks I keep encountering in H.R. who seem to think this is just another budget line item for Awareness Training.
Sorry if I snapped - I didn’t mean to either.
The only solution I have ever seen work is not workshops and not sensitivity training - it’s women standing up and saying O hell no, No more! And not being shamed for it but believed. And it’s having quite an affect.
Until Congress places itself under the same law as everyone else, then it’s kind of pointless.
Simples : A healthy knee or kick in the gonads usually helps ( especially if the groper is married ) .
Please,no more money wasting training or programs that do no good.
