Discussion: Congressional GOPers Question Trump's Firing Of James Comey

The problem with an “independent commission” appointed by Republicans is that it won’t be independent. We need an Independent Prosecutor, stat!

Here’s another suggestion, all you GOP senators who are now tripping all over yourselves to show how concerned you are: Hold actual, meaningful hearings on, and don’t just rubber-stamp, Trump’s next nominee for FBI director. That’ll show us, the public, just how serious (or not) you are.

John M. needs to have a discussion with his buddy Lindsey G.

Is there kompromat on Lindsey? His tune seems to have changed, and not for the better, as worse stuff keeps coming out. Strange.
ETA - dude even if there is, who cares - do the right damn thing and people will respect you.

Independent investigation by an Independent Prosecutor. Otherwise it will only fester, worsen and weaken us. Vlad and his puppets are the only immediate benefactors of our decline. Patriots in Congress and Senate need to stand up now, before people start taking to the streets in even greater numbers than seen to date.

Anybody think there are a lot of shredders working overtime?

You can’t handle the truth.

So Congressional GOPer question trump’s firing of Comey. BFD. They all line up right behind him when it matters, including McCain. He talks tough, acts like a complete coward.

When it comes to dealing with Trump, Congressional Republicans are mice. I expect nothing useful from them.

I don’t really expect anything, but I do think that they have a strong sense of self-preservation coupled with enormous egos. So if they start seeing him as weak and as a liability, they will go after him.

Sadly, there really aren’t even that many giving lip service to being concerned, as many more signaled they’re standing behind their orange clown.

I fear Josh’s sentiment on just how dark and perilous this moment is. I think the worst news today wasn’t even the Comey firing by a president intent on obstructing his investigation. It was learning the deputy AG is a compromised stooge willing to provide cover for this corrupt administration with his letter recommending Comey’s firing. With the House investigation going nowhere while Chaffetz is still running active interference and now the FBI’s investigation at the mercy of being shut down by whatever toolshed Trump appoints as his replacement, it’s not very encouraging to learn a compromised AG can decline to press charges even if one of the investigations can somehow overcome the persistent stonewalling and obstruction by this administration.

The shredders are red hot and smoking.

Sure. But electronic documents are other matter entirely.

I am so not holding my breath for that to happen.

Even these expressions of “concern”, from a grand total of 3 goopers, are mighty weak sauce.

And as regards McCain and Burr, their previous actions and inactions speak far louder than their words do.

“Murmur, murmur, murmur.”

Pointless. Useless. They will do nothing.

an independent investigation is about the only thing that can save this current iteration of the federal government from ignominy

I have told my sons several times in the last few months that we are living in a chapter of a history book that their kids may study some day

And if they want to see the movie, queue up “The Exorcist.”

“I have long called for a special congressional committee to investigate Russia’s interference in the 2016 election,” McCain said in a statement. “The president’s decision to remove the FBI Director only confirms the need and the urgency of such a committee.”

Funny, I don’t seem to remember these calls, or any action backing them up.
