Smart decision. As D.L. Hughley said, “Trump takes pictures with black people.” That’s all he does. He wants the photo op so that his idiot voters can say, “See, he’s not racist.” Good on the CBC for refusing to be used as props.

I would have appended the photo of KAC rudely kneeling on a couch in the Oval Office, with some comment about respect. The casual racism of KAC’s behavior has been underreported. You would never see the same pose if white people were the guests.

Putin didn’t hire Trump. He aimed him.
Putin most likely did hire people in a position to influence Trump, but he wouldn’t have made the mistake of directly hiring Trump.
