Discussion: Congress Returns Facing Pressure To Act On Trump's List Of Gun Proposals

Well, we know which 2 office doors in congress will be locked today.

Yeah. I’m sure they’re ready to roll up their sleeves, rename a few post offices, and cash some pretty hefty checks from the NRA. In other words, Business as usual.

Sorry Schumer… The REAL test would be ALL politicians D and R refusing NRA money.

Never going to happen… Here is a handy list.

And we know the one leading in from K- Street will be swinging off its hinges.

"'Under tough public questioning from shooting survivors, Trump has set high expectations for action.

“I think we’re going to have a great bill put forward very soon having to do with background checks, having to do with getting rid of certain things and keeping other things, and perhaps we’ll do something on age,” Trump said in a Fox News Channel interview Saturday night. He added: “We are drawing up strong legislation right now having to do with background checks, mental illness. I think you will have tremendous support. It’s time. It’s time.”’

Those words. I do not think they mean what you think they mean.

“There’s no magic bill that’s going to stop the next thing from happening when so many laws are already on the books that weren’t being enforced, that were broken,” said Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La

Ah the old ‘laws already on the books’ lie. Exactly what law was broken that allowed a mentally unstable teenager to buy a weapon of war? Pretty sure that number is exactly zero.

Insincere expressions of concern - no magic solution, blah, blah - and regret that a consensus cannot be reached on anything that could prevent all gun violence…it just cannot be done, so we will continue to do nothing except make it easier for more people to purchase more guns.

We all know this, but I just want to say it explicitly: These men and women are willing to see children gunned down in their schools as long as they can keep their money and power. That’s a price they’re willing to pay. It’s a national disgrace. And the children themselves are finally standing up and saying “enough” because the adults can’t or won’t act. The GOP is so utterly corrupt and dishonorable that it shocks the conscience. Just contemptible.

And saying it doesn’t help, I find. So I guess smashing the GOP is the next remedy to try.

And in Scalise’s case also.

Thoughts and prayers are all we’ll get out of this congress.

Yeah, these Republicans aren’t gonna do shit. If they lose their next election they can cash out with the new tax cuts for millionaires, pass on their estates to their children tax-free, get a lobbying job in DC if they still wanna stick around or say fuck it…“I got mine”. They don’t care about legislating, least of all for the public good. Its anathema to practically all of them at this point. They are the most corrupt, morally bankrupt party I have ever seen in my lifetime, hands down.
