Discussion: Congress Averts A Homeland Security Shutdown — For One Week

Discussion for article #233786

Why the heck would Democrats want to save Boehner here?? Is there some grand strategy that I’m missing? If republicans are going to implode, let them and stay far out of the way.

Yeah, Dems keep bailing him out, but there’s never a pay off. So who’s really the chump here?

No, because if Boehner waffles next week, it will be his feet in the fire.

Eh, the Democrats are acting like grown ups and trying to keep the government functioning. Odd concept, I know.

Breaking: Here we have a rare video of the heated debate between the Tea Party Pussies and the GOP’s Old Goat leadership…a debate now sure to continue soon:
Tea Party: “No, no, no, no…”

This kind of honesty from a Republican is refreshing:

Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), who said that he favored any bill that would keep DHS open, had little to say when asked Friday afternoon if the House had spent weeks on what was essentially an exercise in futility.

“You’d be assuming that we don’t waste time normally,” Nunes quipped.

Oh, goody. We get to watch the Republicans making fools of themselves for another week.

Wait, let me re-phrase that: Republicans, as usual, continue to dig their hole deeper.

“Boehner spokesman Michael Steel told reporters that the Speaker hadn’t committed to bringing up a full DHS funding bill next week.”

Note to Democrats: Never, ever conduct negotiations with Boehner without a recording device.

With Bibi in town next week this could be an effing 3-ring circus, especially if Boehner reneges on his promise to bring up a clean bill before the House. Maybe Bibi’s campaign speech won’t be the big story in DC. In any event, he’ll get to see just what a bunch of bumbling idiots he’s allied himself with.

It really is stunning! We went from one of the most accomplished and competent Speakers of the House in more than half a century in Nancy Pelosi…to perhaps the most inept, sorry pieces of human waste ever to occupy that position in Sphincter Boehner. What an inept tragic clown and loser Boehner is.

Baron Boehner of Orange will now retire to plot his strategy for next week. He will consult, relentlessly and repeatedly, over the weekend with his three closest, most loyal and most trusted advisers: Jack Daniels, Jim Beam and Johnny Walker.

This is just like a day time soap opera, As the Enemy Plots.

Boener is giving the enemy hope.

Exactly. I understood that tonight’s “saving” measure by the Dems was based on Boehner’s agreement to bring up the full DHS funding bill next week. Looks like he is ALREADY reneging.

Boehner spokesman Michael Steel told reporters that the Speaker hadn’t committed to bringing up a full DHS funding bill next week. In response a Democratic congressional aide disputed that characterization, saying Boehner had “100 percent, absolutely” committed to bring up a “clean” DHS bill through September next week.

Fucking weasel. Pelosi should have gotten Boner’s words written in his blood first and toasted with glasses of Merlot. Instead, she got something akin to the Fredo kiss of death.
