Discussion: Compton School Board Allows Police To Carry AR-15 Semi-Automatic Rifles

Discussion for article #226629

How long until one of those AR-15’s is stolen and used to kill people?

How could this go wrong? Couple of black guys at the high school start arm wrestling, and the winner is decided by the AR-15?

Gotta love their timing! How can public officials be so tone-deaf?

They’ll kill a student long before they protect one.

And so the bullshit begins…

Compton huh? Predominantly Hispanic and African-American population. No word on why they feel that this is necessary in this community?

Can they try any harder to put out the word that they’re trying to provoke some serious animosity among an already distrustful population when it comes to law enforcement…Did they choose to do this in Compton by virtue of pure demographics and lousy race relations with the police…or is it just a random decision suddenly to “upgrade” their arsenal? Shitty move. History repeats itself with these kind of boneheaded moves …moreover, announcing it is provocation all by itself, imo.

“Handguns you’d be lucky to hit accurately at 25 yards,” Wu said. “With a rifle in the hands of a trained person, you can be go 50, 100 yards accurately.”

Oh yeah… i feel like its a good idea for a school cop to be shooting with a rifle at kids at 100 yards (A FOOTBALL FIELD) away from the target.

Handgun rounds are also a hell of a lot less powerful. You know, less likely to blow through your target (or the wall next to him) and kill someone on the other side…

What if the terrorist have armored vechs? The cops obviously need RPG’s, its the only sane thing to do.

The AR-15 is the SUV of the gun-nut world. Nobody actually needs one, and it’s almost never used for what it’s designed for (shooting enemy soldiers way over there) but hey, they’re so cool! Cops are no more immune to that than anyone. Men and boys, price and lethality of their toys, you know the score.

This just in: Police at a school district in Compton, CA are finally feeling less insecure about the size of their genitals.

“Wu said his officers ‘do not engage in racial profiling.’”

Wanna bet?

Let me see if I have this right.

Terrorists are planning on attacking America. Right now. and they’re planning to start attacking America in a Compton school that has mostly people of color?

So who are these terrorists that want to destroy one of America’s poor, minority schools? The only ones I can think of are the Koch Brothers, the KKK, the Tea Potty, the G0P, Fox “News” and Billbo Reilly. Maybe the Bundy crowd?

No real terrorists are interested at all in schools in Compton. This is merely getting stocked-up for the upcoming country-wide race riots that Fox and Friends have been promoting for the last decade.

This is just a new way to thin-out some of the voters that vote Democrat since those voter purge laws aren’t working fast enough.

For FreeDumb.

When I read articles about schools and school districts, it’s really sad how often my initial response is that I’d never let my kid go there. When I was in public school back in the horse and buggy days, if they’d put an armed security guard in the school, we all would have walked out. I realize that things have changed since then, but AR-15s? Are these people crazy?

Are these people crazy? [/quote] If racism is a mental disease, yes.

Cops patrolling public schools totally need assault weapons. A kid could have a penknife or something. The cops also should get themselves some grenade belts and a few anti-personnel mines. And it couldn’t hurt to have a couple of roving MQ-1 Predator drones with Hellfire anti-armor missiles too (just the four pylon armament package, you wouldn’t want anyone accusing you of overkill). A few overwatch towers with a dozen M40A3 snipers trained on the rambunctious children and they should be set.

Wu said officers are improperly outfitted for situations such as terrorist attacks and mass shootings.

Maybe they should not be committing terrorist attacks and mass shootings?

I never did believe detention was much of a deterrent. Perhaps automatic gun fire will get their attention. :frowning:

Assault rifles are designed for combat, not for policing. With this kind of firepower, you’ll have collateral damage. There have only been a tiny handful of situations in the history of this country where ARs have been needed by the police.

This is a prime example of people making decisions that they know nothing about. Guns to cops is like drugs to a junkie. You just don’t ask them if they want more powerful stuff. And what the hell does a school board know about firepower? Crazy stuff.
