Discussion: Comey Memo Sends Senators Scrambling With Another Trump Scandal

Well Johnny boy, your campaign slogan in 2008 was ‘Country First’, time to put your money where your mouth is.

Is Graham willing to let Comey testify in open session? Will he insist that Trump not put limits on his testimony? Will he subpoena the memos if Comey doesn’t volunteer them? Will he call other witnesses and put them under oath? Or is it just more of his Big Talk, which always fades away?

I got the answers. Unless it means Graham losing his seat. No, no, no, no, yes.

Also expect them to subpoena Comey for a closed session.

GOP Senate leadership team

Now there’s a textbook oxymoron.

Clapper has said that whenever Comey was presented with something he felt was unethical or dishonest, etc., he would back it up in writing.

That said, I would say this isn't going to end well but as have seen .... (see top of comment)

There may be a ray of hope, however, in that Comey has said he would ***only*** testify in an open hearing. Methinks he has some real a-bombs to drop.

Also expect them to subpoena Comey for a **closed session**.

Should that happen it wouldn't surprise me to see an op/ed with the byline James B. Comey Jr.

This isn’t just about Trump. Is it about every goddamn elected Republican. Every. One.

McCain “I’ve got to read it…”
And then, John, you’ve got some heavy obfuscation, dissimulation, cunctatiousneess and panicking to do.

Sure, closed session. No chance of any leak.

I am looking forward to reading about the extent of the Trump Family Criminal Enterprise and watching the perp walks. Here’s hoping that this will finally get the ball rolling.

People are talking about how TFCE is behind the ransomware epidemic, too. Can it be a coincidence that it happened after TFCE got control of all the codes? Hardly seems likely…

Jail seems too good for this bunch.

And then he chose Sarah Palin.

Meanwhile, McConnell and Richard Burr seem to have vanished like a couple of farts in a hurricane.

Well hey, government officials are indeed screwing up his presidency. Or at least one is! Give him a chance!
Also, if he’s admitting he was unelected, it’s progress.

Yes, they own it too. They supported DJT, campaigned with him, and voted for him.

And now they defend him.

You are known by the friends you keep. DJT is a crook, you are a crook. He obstructs justice, you are obstructing justice.

It’s only been a bit over a hundred days, but already, Comey’s probably written an encyclopedia on this putrid Administration.

GOP Senator scumbags simply stated “We will wait until the White House puts out a denial that Trump then blows up by admitting what he did, then we will be ‘troubled’ by it and then run behind a door with security guards blocking the media from asking more questions.”

It’s not clear to me that they can force Comey into a closed session. None of what he’s going to be talking about appears to fit any of the definitions of classified information – which Comey couldn’t discuss anyway, since he has no more clearance. Maybe they could do it under rules for criminal investigations, but that would be ceding a pretty serious point.

Someone, just…just…just turn out the lights already.

Even if they could, they can’t stop him from writing an op/ed.

If news reports are to be believed, Comey has indicated that he will only testify in open session.
